Like I said, I agree that some of the morons post their team threads and they are literally the only ones that post in the thread (and I am partly guilty of that with my annual UConn football/bball one but I've been doing it for like 6 years now) and ignore it for months on end and then bump it right before the 90 day limit.

But there are a good number of fans of teams like the Yanks, Braves, Mets, Cubs, Cards, etc on here... and we like to talk about it/bitch about the teams. I don't see a problem with that.

The *'s and capitalized team names just reek of people wanting to be noticed, but that isn't going to stop.

I know it's the dead season right now, which is part of the blame, but I swear it seems like for the past few months any time I click on Sports Talk looking for something interesting, the top of the section is nearly overrun by Official threads. Then you get one like Crawface created and it gets fucking locked. I'm exactly right that you have dickbags who want to have a thread they created in ST that they can just keep bumping.

I think if an official thread is going to garner as much "work" as the threads going towards 10 pages, then yeah, those threads make sense. Otherwise, the first page of that section should be constantly refreshing with new interesting sports stories that aren't getting crowded out by 10 5 month old threads each with 30 posts where the most recent post in all of them was "fuck yeah, beat team Y".
