i don't even want to get married. this is what i want:

1. to live with s.o. (which is like impossible with our families w/o marriage )
2. have a big party that is all about me
3. get presents that are for me

so marriage...meh. big parties all about me with presents that i register for YAYYYY.

i honestly think it would be cool to do something like that....

but it would have to be with somebody i actually might consider marrying anyway...

I wouldn't waste a Vegas trip on Halloween

Vegas is always gonna be nuts...most other places only go nuts a few times a year

I just got out of a year long relationship (well like 2 months ago) in which I thought we might get married, but I set a timeline of dating/living together of 2 years before I proposed in.

I didn't tell her that, of course.

Anyway, we ended up breaking up, and I realized that I wasn't ready for marriage any time soon.

I'm not afraid of committment, but I am deathly afraid of jumping into marriage with the wrong person.

Let's see...I met my future husband in a class during Junior year. We were BEST friends for almost about 10 months before we started dating. By the time we'd been dating for about 10 months, we got engaged. Then, we got married another 8 months after that. We've been married for more than 2.5 years.

I don't necessarily think there's a timeline for everyone. Some people are uncannily lucky and know after just a few months. Some folks know after a few years. Everyone's different.

The big thing to remember is that every marriage takes work and committment. If you aren't willing to grow as a team with your spouse, don't get married. I highly encourage pre-marital counseling for just this reason.
