Oh, I'm sure there are people posting in TSB who donated money to his campaign for that haircut.

But to be honest, compared to my expectations for campaign funding, that's almost a productive use.

productive? are you being serious?

i mean dude has a 5 million dollar 25,000 sf house and he champions for the poor, it doesn't shock me that he would spend $400 on someone to spend 15 minutes with a pair of scissors...but I don't see how you continually defend it

when you go on a politicians website, sign up for the emails, and donate $5, what do you think that's going to?

The money to pay for a spot on prime time TV?
The money to pay an agency to film and cut the commercial?

Some of that money will go to someone getting their nails done, and not indirectly through salaries.

$400 for a haircut

how can that not seem ridiculous? and its not like it's a chick with 3 feet of hair getting it done up for the Academy Awards...its a guy getting a haircut

I'd fathom a guess that it was an hour worth of time, not the absurdity of 15 minutes that you are claiming. He probably got a full wash and massage with all the latest high end product, etc. He got the works.

Compared to how much a high powered lawyer charges, I'm not surprised in the least that a boutique hair stylist commands that type of fee. It can't be cheap having a storefront in Beverly Hills.

^ I'm not defending the haircut, but from what he says, he had to find someone at like 11PM the night before a debate to cut his hair, and apparently that's the going rate for last minute, late-night haircuts.

Yeah, me either. I'd be mildly annoyed if I donated that the money was going towards that and not into the volunteers pockets, ads, etc. But attempting to nail him on the excessive-ness of the hair cut is a bit of a waste of time. I'm sure Twista has spent excess amounts of money on good weed when the low end stuff would suffice. Fucking elitist.

One of my coworkers' sister is a for hire pilot. She has flown rich housewives to NYC so that they can take their dog to the groomer. John Edwards' haircut is really not that big of a deal.

The $500 shoes aren't a big deal to me either. I probably have a dozen pair of shoes worth over $100 each new and I'm a pretty normal guy. I don't see a problem with a political candidate having a few pairs of really nice shoes considering the amount of press he has to endure.

The arugula thing really irks me. I'm glad to see a candidate who actually pays attention to what he is eating. If nothing else he's a good role model for people who look up to him.

...says the TWW elitist who has bought numerous screennames when State409c would've done just fine

[Edited on August 12, 2008 at 5:53 PM. Reason : ^^]

yeah in order of the stupidity of making it a news story (from most irrelevant to most relevant)

Arugula > Shoes > Haircut

This is why I dont donate money directly to candidates, esp lawyers. I dont want my money going for a 400 dollar haircut or a new house for his mistress.

I also dont like the idea of giving money to someone in the hopes that he will do something for me in return(in politics).

Paraphrased

I'd like to troll State409c, but I'm not sure how, so I'll cobble together some words I know and hope it makes sense.....fuck, it doesn't.

That ain't "normal". Nothing wrong with it, but surely ain't typical or average.

A "normal" guy has << dozen pair of shoes, with perhaps 1 or 2 pairs that cost > $100. You have a dozen pairs which cost > $100 new. And probably 2 dozen or more pairs in total.

tell your congressmen, he can use that in thier next speech.

"We have people, thanks to george bush's failed policies, that can only afford one shoe. They would be out there curing cancer, if only they had that other shoe. Vote for me, and Ill make sure that we take that shoe from someone else, and make sure that middle class and single mothers no longer suffer from one wet sock."

Good?

I don't think that using campaign money for person grooming is particular bad, nor is getting a $400 haircut.

But yes, getting a $400 haircut on campaign money is certainly repulsive (more so because of degree than the action itself), and I would be rather upset if I had given him money.

Don't be haters. This stuff may be corrupt and rupulsive, but they could make a lot of money.

McCain should buy up stock in that Itallian shoe company and make himself the face of the organation, promoting products such as The John McCain Campeigning Shoe.

Obama should buy up thousands af acres of farmland and start mass producing arugula. He could shed it's elitist stigma through catchy marketing slogans like, "Arugula, the New Collard Greens!"

As For Edwards, all he needs to say to get people off his back is...

It's funny because of the latent racism.

The comment I quoted makes fun of all three candidates? Stop replying to every comment I make if you are going to be that stupid and pathetic about it.

Racism? Please explain? I'm sorry you feel that way, I'm not seeing it though. It was a joke about vegetables.

Lighten up man.

It's funny because it doesn't answer the question and has nothing to do with anything.
