for page 2 since the 48th post never gets read

i found out thread count doesn't always translate to quality. well maybe it does but if that's the case then the higher the thread count the hotter the sheets get. if you didn't like the tempurpedic bed because of the temperature then you probably don't like the higher thread count sheets.

A client of my dad sent (to my address) a set of really nice (turns out they were $texas) 1600+ thread count sheets. My girlfriend and I put them on our bed and it was like we were sleeping in a garbage bag in the summer sun.

We sometimes will use them in the winter, but when we are together we usually sleep cuddled up and keeps us warm enough to where the sheets are still too hot.

Yeah, that's why I'm happy with my 400 and 500 count sheets. Beyond that it starts to get hot and not breathe and mine are plenty soft and comfy.

Plus, even sheets with a high thread count can be made with shitty fibers that fray and pill easily. (Textiles people may laugh at me saying that, but it's what I found when I was researching why my 800-count sheets sucked).

Yeah, I will not buy sheets online. Have to feel them first. Ross FTW.

Depends on the fiber. Some manufactured fibers pill, natural fibers don't.
But you are right. That's why I've gotten to where I won't buy sheets without touching them first.

IMO, thread count is worthless unless you're dealing with 100% cotton sheets. Add in another fiber, like, say, bamboo, and you have absolutely no idea how those sheets will feel based on TC.

Eh, even feeling doesn't do the trick if they're the type that will fray. Mine were awesome for a week or two.

They make bamboo sheets?! That's pretty sweet.

And that comment wasn't to you, btw.

Oh, okay

Yeah, they make bamboo sheets.
They feel nice at first, but after a few washes, they start degrading. I only kept them because I really suck at doing sheets, and so sometimes I'll want to change the sheets, and not have a full set available.

The flat one from that set is also good for the foldout sofa for guests.

It's not that I necessarily think the sheets would be cool. I just think it would be cool to say you have sheets made of bamboo.

I'm easily amused, if you can't tell.
