"NC State receiver Bowens out for the year

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Tom O'Brien announced tonight that junior wide receiver Donald Bowens will miss the 2008 season with a back injury.

NC State head coach Tom O'Brien announced tonight that junior wide receiver Donald Bowens will miss the 2008 season with a back injury.
“Bowens is out – he's done," O'Brien said. "He's got a fractured spine... well not a fractured spine I said that wrong. He has a hairline fracture. So he's out for the year.”

O'Brien said he's not sure when the injury occurred.

“We don't know," O'Brien said. "He never really got going. He went out and tried it one or two or three days and then couldn't practice anymore. He had a series of tests done that came back yesterday.”

He also said he wasn't sure if the injury could be considered career-threatening.

“I don't know that. They are going to recheck him in three months or something. It's gotta heal. Once it heals I would think.... I would hope. I dunno.”

As a sophomore, Bowens posted the team's best reception average at 15 yards per catch. He totaled 41 receptions for 598 yards and three touchdowns. Bowens had a breakout performance in his start against Virginia, recording 11 catches for 202 yards and two touchdowns. Those were the top marks ever posted by a NC State sophomore.

Bowens played in 2006 as a true freshman, registering 16 receptions for 200 yards and two scores.

Because he played as a true freshman, Bowens should be able to receive a medical redshirt for the 2008 season, enabling him to have two years of eligibility remaining"

losing bowens isnt the end of the world, he is really good, but we can def overcome at that position that we are so deep in... just unproven in. jay smith time, hopefully he is ready

also, i love the meltdowns lately lol, some on here, but it is hilarious over on pp premium... they live and die on every single one of those press conferences that TOB gives. since im sure tob gives the media the correct scoop at all times lol... i guess they want him to say that we are the best team he has ever seen, i personally wont pass judgement until ive seen the first game.

and if we start evans, my morale for the season will be hurt... if he is the best thing we got, whats the difference between 5-7 and still no experience at qb or 3-9 and a qb with one year starting in the system? just my opinion, but i dont feel that we can get a bowl with evans, good kid, just not talented at all.

21-20 PACK!

Considering Beck is not even in the equation that would be a fast one.

I'm banking on the fact that they will look better with pads. If they don't, we have the worst cut of jersey ever made.

I seem to remember a certain team losing their starting HB and the back-up emerging as a darkhorse heisman candidate last season, gotta try to make lemonade man.

^ and I think the emblem on the front won't look as big once pads are on. Any football uniform looks awkward without pads.

^Agreed to an extent. I'm trying really hard to like the 3 wolves logo on the jersey, but it's just not happening. Maybe it'll look better with pads on. Other than that, I think they look good.

I think so that we don't cause future confusion that we not call that new logo the 3 wolves logo. It conjures up images of the logo with the three wolves heads. I like to call this new logo wolf rock.

^ Yeah. It's like fucking Hardy's in the 90s. They couldn't decide what kind of fast-food joint they were going to be or how they were going to market themselves. Once they decided on a consistent menu and ad campaign and owned it, they started doing a lot better. The fools running our marketing campaign should take notes.

All this time I thought that discussing how good or how bad a uniform looks was how women coped with watching football.

As far as marketing goes..I've worked with some of the event staff so far this summer and it seems like whenever somebody gets an idea...no matter how crappy, everyone is like "BRILLIANT!!" and they go with it without trying to figure out how the average fan/outsider would see it.
