As I recall exit polling in Ohio showed Kerry winning in Ohio and he lost. Obamatrons are doing their damndest to try and keep non Obama supporters from the polls its not even funny. Election day is a little over 2 weeks away. Poll numbers are not an exact science and can be biased. Does it look like Obama is going to win sure but it doesn't mean he will, stranger things have happened. Just because Powell gave a powerful endorsement to Obama doesn't mean it will swing all undecided voters.

^ he's saying that by making it seem like Obama is a shoo-in, it'll discourage McCain supporters from voting, because they might feel like they're wasting their time (and they are ).

I love Colin Powell,

Gee I didn't really know who to choose before the last few weeks, but NOW it is clear from the campaigns that Obama is the one to choose.

Who in the Obama camp wrote that for him and what does he earn in the Obama administration for his conveniently timed support of the dear leader?

This has nothing to do with trying to shift focus from the fact that Obama's blatantly socialist policies have finally begun to get some attention.

Of course you'll reply, but McCain just bailed out the banks, doesn't that make him a socialist?

What can I say? The lesser of two evils.

Anyway, it seems to me the Obama lead has been shrinking on the average of the news I've seen comparing today to say a week ago.

^ yeah it has been shrinking on the national level, no one expected them to stay the same, that would be unprecedented. Obama's still well up in the electoral count. I predict the Powell endorsement is going to boost Obama back to where he was post-debates. If only we could have more debates...

It's funny you don't think Powell could have written that himself, from what I saw, he's the only one that could have written what he said.

And Obama's "socialist policies" aren't getting more attention, the people asserting his policies are socialist are getting attention, Obama's policies haven't changed.

I lol at the whole "lesser of 2 evils" though, it must be fun clinging desperately to what's obviously a failed ideology.

^^ I see that mentality a lot, and i'm a bit intrigued.

I didn't realize being conservative also gave you telepathic powers, you all seem to REALLY know what Obama's thinking, what Wright's thinking, what Powell's thinking, what the people of Iran really think, and what people voting for Obama are really thinking. Us poor saps on the other side are stuck relying on people's words and actions to determine their positions.

So what position within the administration did Powell earn with that endorsement?

^^I sincerely doubt Colin Powell is interested in politics these days.

Furthermore, if he were angling for a position in office, it would be just that: angling. Again, I doubt Obama's gonna go quid pro quo for an endorsement he doesn't really need.

^^ Cabinet appointees aren't realy "politicians" per se. They don't run for office.

^? You can be a politician without running for office.

And I'm not clear why would you post that link when it explicitly contradicts your position that Colin's endorsement was part of some quid pro quo:

Quote :
"Obama said Powell, a retired four-star general who served as President Bush's secretary of state, did not give him a heads-up before he crossed party lines and endorsed the Democratic presidential candidate Sunday on the network's "Meet the Press.""

Could it possibly be that Powell believes Obama is the best man for the job?

You don't have to be a cynic about everything, you know.

Where did I say it was a quid pro quo?

You are reading too much into my post. I'm just speculating about what position Obama will offer him, not any ulterior motives on Powell's part.

Who's cynical again?

OK read it anyway you want to. I guess I've built up a rep as a cynical blowhard on this board.

I've got lots of respect for Powell, lil Buckley, and other lifelong Republicans who have broken ranks to endorse Obama and call out McCain for what he is: a shell of his former self whose desperation moves over the past few months have shown him to be a poor choice for President, especially in light of Obama's superior campaign and steady leadership.

Ahahahahahaha. If you want to hear about betrayal, look into how Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell heard about Bush wanting to go into Iraq. They heard it on CNN. How about how they gave Powell what would eventually become widely known to be false intelligence to bring before the world and the UN to make the case for war? They left him out of the loop because Rummy and Dick didn't want the state department taking point on Iraq- and because he was giving Bush advice on Iraq that conflicted with theirs. Then they set him up by having him be the voice that made the case to the world. That pic's a nice piece of revisionism though.

GG Powell, for reading my post from 10 days ago, regarding that stupid old hag at his rally who said Obama is an Arab.

My post:

Quote :
"What he (McCain) should have done was said this:

No ma'am, that is false; Obama is not an Arab. And in a great country like America, it shouldn't matter EVEN IF he was an Arab.
He is a citizen and a presidential candidate, and that's all that matters. Judge him on his words and actions, not his skin color or ethnicity.

Wouldn't that have been awesome? (AND THE RIGHT THING TO DO)"

And Powell said yesterday:

Quote :
"“I’m also troubled by not what Sen. McCain says but what members of the party say, and it is permitted to be said. Such things as ‘Well you know that Mr. Obama is a Muslim.’ Well the correct answer is ‘He is not a Muslim, he’s a Christian, he’s always been a Christian.’ But the really right answer is ‘What if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country?’ The answer is ‘No. That’s not America.’

“Is there something wrong with some 7-year-old Muslim-American kid believing that he or she can be president? Yet I have heard senior members of my own party drop the suggestion he’s a Muslim and he might be associated with terrorists. This is not the way we should be doing it in America."

Take that, all you fucking ignorant rednecks out there!
