you'll get the hang of it soon enough...the first car that I learned on (that I now own) was an srt-4 and I got the hang of it within days and completely comfortable driving it in a couple weeks.

I definitely like the car. My biggest problem of course is getting it into first consistantly (especially on fucking hills, gah)...after I get it moving its easy.
Once I get good, oh hell this car will be fun to drive. I just gotta get JSnail to get me another blue line sticker 8/19/2008 11:02:50 AM |

yeah it doesnt take long. once you can sit still on hills using only the clutch you're pretty much golden.. obviously don't do that for long periods of time though 8/19/2008 8:26:55 PM |

I learned on my parents old beamer and that I thought that was a good car to learn on as well... mainly bc if you could learn to drive a manual on that car, you can drive anything" |
That's not true. If you can learn how to drive a "3 on a tree" then you can drive anything. That was an adventure for me when I worked in the shop at Pep Boys in Garner back in 1999.8/19/2008 8:31:01 PM |

I learned on a crx years ago, and never drove a manual after that. my bf tried to "reteach" me on his honda- and it didn't go too well at first- it just takes some time to get used to it. but hondas have been easy enough for me to start with 8/19/2008 8:32:32 PM |

I learned on a 1987 Mazda 626. We went to the closest parking lot and my dad tried to teach me. It took me a few days to figure it out and get good at it. The first time I triped to take off I jstalled the car and almost gave my dad whiplash. The trick is to give it a little gas as you slowly let up on the clutch. 8/19/2008 8:36:28 PM |

Yeah ease off the clutch, ease on the gas. Just get those muscles trained and you'll never forget how to do it. 8/19/2008 10:53:35 PM |

Me learning to drive a stick was a collaborative effort: Dad ...tried to teach me the essentials of letting out hte clutch slowly, and getting moving. My friend brought his truck over one night, and I about doubled my stick knowledge It was still very rough >.< and then Nerdchick came over after I bought my car, and polished up my driving and stopping and blahblahblah, and now I'll never drive another automatic.
