"This is why college students get a bad rap. Your sense of fucking entitlement. You're not special"

Neither is the jackass with the website. The guy posts a picture of a fence missing one slat as an example of an "offender" and "bad neighbor," but the college students are alone in their sense of entitlement? At least the young people only feel entitled to do shit on the property that they pay for, as opposed to the people that feel entitled to dictate what others do in their own house.

There's a lot of shit on both sides, but by far the best way to deal with it is for certain individuals to stop being cowards or belligerent. You want your younger neighbors to stop behaving so obnoxiously? You don't accomplish it by rushing to the use of authority figures like the police and HOAs, which just makes them resentful of the system and of you. You don't accomplish it by going over filled with apoplectic rage about car parking or noise. You accomplish it by going over and calmly, rationally explaining your concern first and foremost. That won't always work and you'll have to go over their heads, but it's the way to start.

College students do a lot of stupid, obnoxious things, and I've been guilty of many of them. When my neighbors have come to me and said, "Would you guys please go inside? I can't fall asleep, and I have work tomorrow," I have apologized and told everyone to go inside. But when they've come over screaming, left bitchy notes, or come at me red-faced and ranting, at best I'll do the bare minimum to not get evicted or arrested, and at worst I'll start fucking with their shit.

I'd rather live in my car than one of those communist conclaves. This is why when I buy a house, I'm going to live out in the country with a minimum of 2 acres of land. No retiree dictatorship is going to tell me what I can and cannot do on my own property. The first person that tries will get the business end of this shoved in their face

exactly

you know what you're getting with trailwood hills. and it's not like its taken a turn for the worse lately. dont buy a house if you mind cars on grass, piles of garbage, deteriorating homes etc. tryon pines is a much nicer neighborhood, for just a little more $.

We have a rental on our street, that is rented to some NCSU sorority girls (DG?). It was rented to some ADpies last year and they were fine. The girls this year are annoying-I have already called them at 4:30 in the morning. I do not live in a college neighborhood. The house they rent is a .5mil house, that a developer owns, who is waiting for the housing market to get better. I mean these girls have frat guys and kegs and shit, in a nighborhood with million dollar houses

I keep waiting for one of the big lawyers on the street to stick it to them

in my experience, the police and hoa's are quite effective at keeping the riff-raff under control

yeah I was real nice when I called them. I was like -I am sure you didn't realize how late it is and how loud the boys are.

edit post I am traub and I approve of JohnnieWalkrs message. we've had a run in with lineberry.org stuff as well. lets just say it's kind of ironic how a year later the main guy shows up on my front porch drunk as fuck. did I call the cops? nope.
"

Would love the 411 on this incident? The guy with the website? Or the Lineberry.org guy? The HOA here ain't for shit. It's run by landlords, whom realize that this is a rental neighborhod. This Jeff guy had this city out here surveying my yard on a saturday morning to see if I was using more than 40% of the yard for parking. They came up with 39%. I slid under the limit because I argued successfully that the front yard starts at the front wall, and not at the front steps. Lawyer shit...

There needs to be an epic block party here, the 40 and 50 year olds need to realize it's time to move on.

they do make isolating mats to go under floor speakers; it's not that hard to talk to them and find a volume that's acceptable

idk about best buy, they used to have them at radio shack though

it might just be cheaper to get a foam pad from the camping section at walmart and cut it into squares

do you live in an apt complex or a house? when i lived in the apt complex i had some sickly ass neighbor downstairs who was WAY sensitive about the bass, but she was always really nice about it, so I didnt mind. Honestly, it was probably louder in her place than I realized and I figure that someone probably wouldnt come up and complain about something unless it really was a big enough problem. Seems to me like you're being cool about it too.

bass really really carries...i think in general subwoofers + apartments/townhouses is a bad idea, especially if you're usually listening to music vs home theater. iw ould start by disconnecting the sub and keep the bass turned way down

yeah that's crucial

This kind of stuff is why ive never lived in apartments or townhomes. i don't wanna have to worry about noise i make (or have to hear noise from my neighbors)

trailwood hills was fine when i first moved in there 3 and a half years ago, but it has gotten pretty bad as of late

not too bad that i still wouldn't suggest it. out of all the parties we had had, we never had the cops come (well they came at 330am one night, but no one was there any more except like 5 people). The only bad thing is the parking and the crazy H.O.A. trying to tell people how to live their lives

Next time you rent, if you plan on having big parties, make sure you get a place that surrounds other partying college students and not families with 2 year old kids.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for having fun in a house, but do your hw before you rent. If it's such a good deal it could be bc the renters before you had this same problem.

btw, i think 'jeff' is in silver sedan. and it looks like he's too scared to get out of his car to take the pic.

there is a $200 reward for information about the people that broke into the trailwood hills pool at night and broke glass in the pool. if you saw the bill for the cleanup and refill you would probably not like students either.
