Notice I said religious dogma, referring to rules that come from church authorities, rather than straight from God. These rules were issued for a number of reasons, not just because of prudes who saw sex as evil, but largely for reasons of inheritance, to ensure that a man's children were indeed his. I think Jesus taught that the highest law is the law of love. He knew that people fall in and out of love, but as long as the love is there, regardless of marital status, and no one is being used without knowing it or deceived, sex is OK.

the only thing about what you've said that i find dispute with is your idea that you have any right whatsoever to judge the reasons for their actions, ESPECIALLY since they don't affect you...if i pray before i go to sleep every night, even though god himself hasn't told me to do so, are you okay with that? i mean, since it didn't come from the lips of jesus christ, it must not be a valid personal choice?

religion is a perfectly acceptable reason for abstinence...i, personally, am not abstinent despite being a (fairly) devout christian, but your condemnation of the choice because you're pissed that you feel you missed out on fun is asinine and presumptuous

I created sex. sex is good. sex should be had with someone you love. sometimes after around 6 drinks you really think you love someone. then you wake up the next morning and realize who is this person ? I wasn't really trying to condemn it, I was offering advice from someone who regrets his blind acceptance of dogma. I do advocate seriously questioning why your religion tells you to abstain, and not just accept it. Some directives are obvious in their reasoning, like Thou Shalt Not Steal, but others may be based on outdated reasoning, like kosher cooking, intended to prevent foodborne disease, which is less of a problem nowadays with modern medicine. I agree that this is my own interpretation, which opposes the more widespread interpretation by church authorities.
