I don't know how I missed this thread the first time around.

My entire life was put on hold by panic disorder until my doctor put me on Lorazepam and Zoloft.

It actually kinda annoys me that some people would use it as a recreational drug just because it makes it harder for people who actually need it to get a prescription for it.

(And if I were going to use prescription drugs "just for fun," I can think of better.)

^ I completely understand - my husband has serious panic attacks and his psychiatrist wont let him be on his klonopin anymore because of his other patients who have gotten caught selling them and have gotten addicted to them around Thomas's age, so he sticks him on haldol and thorazine, great

Ugh. I am always afraid that something like that will happen.
Fortunately, Ativan isn't as popular with pill poppers as things like Klonopin and Xanax.

If your doctor will not give you medicine you need because of what other people have done with it then you might want to change doctors.

today i went to the doctor and i am supposed to go on anti anxiety medicines. which one should i get? i'm also supposed to be tested for add/adhd. which may be the root of the whole problem. if it is, i may not need anxiety medicine after all.

i don't know. i have to go to a psychiatrist or a regular medical doctor. i just went to a therapist. he can refer me, apparently. i don't really have a doctor so i don't really know what to do in these types of situations (where a doctor is needed).

he said probably not benzos because they are habit forming. he said probably an antidepressant with proven results in treating anxiety. i said not lexapro because i already took that and hated it and i don't even like the idea of taking medicine. other than that, i don't really know anything about them at all.

except he said they won't make me see rainbows and butterflies when they aren't there. which i was kind of hoping for, but oh well.

but he said i might get proscribed a benzo WITH something else like zoloft or whatever. i don't really know. but he said people aren't giving them out as much. but that is kind of all i want.

The lorazepam is very calming without killing your ability to focus/concentrate. If anything I would say it might actually help that.

i don`t see what is so bad about taking habit forming medications to treat a bad habit

look timmy, you can`t have anti-rejection meds after your transplant, the doc said they are habit-forming and you are going to turn into a JUNKIE

YO I had a scrip for dilaudid and that is some serious shit. Will knock you on your ass. I can see how motherfuckers get hooked on them shits. I only took them for like 3 days and coming off you feel like complete ass. I could only imagine what would happen if you had to take them for weeks or longer.

I quit taking them with some to spare because it was better to walk around in a moderate amount of pain and be able to function, than to be in no pain but so doped up you could not get anything done.

Then there was the whole feeling like shit coming down thing, and then immediately thinking I need another one to make it go away. We all know that leads to trouble.

lexapro did nothing for me, except for giving me perpetual diarrhea, migrains, and the chills.

prozac has been a godsend
