FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T SUPPORT THIS SHIT!
Quote : | "The Platform
1. GREEN JOBS NOW
Invest in millions of new green jobs, strengthen the American middle class and create new pathways out of poverty for millions more. By retooling our factories, revamping our schools, and rebuilding our communities, we can create a sustainable, just, and prosperous future for all.
2. INVEST IN A CLEAN ENERGY ECONOMY
Unleash American ingenuity and launch a new wave of affordable clean energy technology. We need more federal and private investments in public transit, ultra-efficient vehicles, and renewable energy like wind and solar.
3. CUT GLOBAL WARMING POLLUTION NOW
To ensure our health, prosperity, and security, scientists tell us we must rapidly drive US global warming pollution towards zero. We can and must accomplish this transition to a clean energy future in an equitable and just manner.
4. END OUR DEPENDENCE ON DIRTY ENERGY
Enact an immediate moratorium on new coal, oil, natural gas, and nuclear plant construction and infrastructure, while phasing out existing plants and fossil fuel extraction and ensuring a just transition for the workforce and communities
5. RE-ENGAGE AS A LEADER IN THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY
Global warming requires a global solution. We must shift the focus of American foreign policy from military intervention to international cooperation and join the world in pursuing peace and international development, thereby offering assistance to vulnerable and impacted communities.
6. TAKE DIRTY MONEY OUT OF POLITICS
It's time to make government accountable to "We the People." Put voters first and refuse campaign contributions from dirty energy interests." |
"Invest in millions of new green jobs"
Investing in "millions of new green jobs" means investing billions upon billions of dollars. Who's money is this? taxpayers. So let's throw caution to the wind and pump our national debt up even more! You know what else it means? Destruction of our environment. Judging by the fact that your BS webpage is littered with pictures of wind turbines, I'm just going to venture a guess that you all are supporting building these monuments to the hypocrisy of the green movement. But you know what the reality is?
it takes more concrete to build these than traditional generating stations. It doesn't shut down conventional plants that have to run on spinning reserve to handle their fluctuations either.
"federal and private investments in public transit, ultra-efficient vehicles"
Go read the thread in the Soap Box and our new federal loans to General Motors.
"moratorium on new coal, oil, natural gas, and nuclear plant"
Hey, newsflash! "Green" power sources are bad for the environment too!
"international cooperation and join the world in pursuing peace and international development"
Do you know what foreign aid has done to Africa? It makes the governments loyal to the world bank and their foreign supporters instead of their own constituents. Every time we give someone money to help with their 'development', it brings them further away from that goal.
Just like everything this shit factory proposes will make the problems of peak oil and climate change worse, not better. What we really need is for people to get real, instead of flinging this shit around.

Being against nuclear power is fucking stupid and hugely increases our dependence on oil. The signle fact that most environmental organizations are against it proves they dont know fuckall about the science behind it and probably dont know fuckall about the science behind anything else.
The message people hear from you is ALL PROGRESS IS BAD! If you wonder why this immediately turns people off then you are a lost cause.
The comment I made about GM crops has to do with people like greenpeace convincing people that GM crops are somehow bad. That someone would have the nerve to go to a starving farmer in africa and tell him that he shouldn't farm crops that would save him and make him self sufficient, smacks of arrogance. Arrogance that can only come from someone who's only problem in life is that a corporation might make money in the process of making someones life better.
Everytime some nut argues against wind power because its an eye sore or because it kills birds, they just piss away their credibility.
I am all for getting off foreign oil. I would love a cheap electric car. But the government will not solve this problem and will only get in the way. If you want to get us off oil, then I suggest rallying the people (not the government) around nuclear, solar, wind, and geothermal energy.8/24/2008 7:18:21 PM |

You see, this is constructive. I have my misgivings about current deployment of several of these, but for those same items, research could be our saving grace.
Also see, for someone who is not off their rocker, knows their shit, sees the world's coming problems, and basically is doing everything this Powervote crap will never do:

btw, in 10 years we'll be getting off foreign oil. Problem is, we'll be doing this whether you like it or not. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Export_Land_Model
Bill Gates developing tar sands is one of the most benevolent things he can do for the world's poor. Otherwise he's throwing his money into the cancer research black hole, which will develop procedures only ever usable by the rich.8/24/2008 7:32:23 PM |
