"Personally, Id say the Foo Fighters"

I really hope you're joking

Foo Fighters could take all of their good songs from each of their 6 cds and they would have enough for 1 decent cd

i think the entire colour and the shape album is absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Never I song I even consider skipping when that CD is on. I think the entire self titled album is very good. Definitely some songs better than others but its still a really good CD.

I think your (^^^) statement holds true for the next 4 after s/t and c&ts. You could take like 2-3 songs off of the rest of their 4 albums and put together one pretty good album. But the first 2 are on another level.

maybe I'm just really picky but I think 'Everlong' and 'My Hero' are the only good songs off Colour and the Shape

Arctic Monkeys
Jupiter One (granted they've only had one album, but there wasn't a bad song on it)
Flogging Molly
Franz Ferdinand (unless you count their third album taking FOREVER a disappointment)
Rush

It's been three years. When you've been waiting for it for seventeen years (hello Kevin Shields), call me.

^^^ "Everlong" is an incredible song, but there are at least a half dozen that are better than "My Hero."

It's one of those albums that's so good that you listen to it a million times and then hardly ever because you know it so well...and when you do go back and listen, there are nuances that you've forgotten that remind you of why you love it so much in the first place. [/sappy cliche]

(Note: These albums are different from albums like Pet Sounds and Nevermind that you've listened to six million times and know every nuance of by heart. Still awesome, but a different thing.)

come on, I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan, but you're telling me that you weren't disappointed by Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother...

and if you considering post-Waters PF material... you weren't disappointed by Momentary Lapse of Reason or Division Bell either?

Ok, I can buy being disappointed after Waters left, but you can rationalize that and say that isn't really Pink Floyd. But Ummagumma and Atom Hear Mother? Seriously? These are two of the albums that started to define the band, sure they weren't as good/refined as their later works, but they weren't disappointing because they were made before those works, and were still very good.

Disappointing is making awesome music, then making rubbish. Not making good music, then making godly music after words.

No, disappointing is being at a high level and then going down to a lower level. It's not necessarily trash but it is worse than their best.

Pink Floyd has been on a downward slope for 40 years lol..

Barrett was the man, and one of the most amazing musicians ever. Waters could carry the band, and they certainly made amazing music. Gilmour gets a passing grade with Division Bell, but not with Momentary Lapse.

Still one of my all-time favorite bands though. Barrett > Waters > Gilmour.

But their best came after both of those albums. So you are disagreeing with yourself. I said that they

A Saucerful of Secrets was alright, same with Piper, but they weren't great, like say Meddle which came after AHM.

It doesn't matter when albums occured or what they helped to shape, there's no way you can tell me you put on DSotM or The Wall and then listen to Ummagumma, and you're just as pleased with what you hear.

When I first became a Pink Floyd fan, I didn't listen to all the albums in order... I heard all the well-known stuff and eventually found my way to all their other albums, and when I listened to the track on Ummagumma where it's him making sounds like rats and birds, the only way to describe my feelings is disappointment.

not to antagonize the pink floyd debate, but i actually like everything i've heard of pink floyd. and i'm a pretty big floyd fan. i liked the early years and i strangely like the later post-waters albums a lot including momentary lapse of reason. so yes, i knew what i was saying when i said the pink floyd sound.
