"i'm gonna call bullshit, let alone the fact that you didnt address the attacks in asia and africa and the rest of the world, or any attacks that they've carried out before march 03"

Quote :
"In late 2003, researchers at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI) discovered an analytical document on a jihadist website dealing with the war in Iraq and the European countries who backed the US in the conflict. A number of pages dealt with the subject of Spain, suggesting it would be a weak link among European supporters, because its population was overwhelmingly opposed to the war. To this day, speculation rests on the belief that the Madrid attackers were motivated by this document."

Quote :
"Two of the bombers made videotapes describing their reasons for becoming what they called "soldiers". In a videotape aired by Al Jazeera on 1 September 2005, Mohammad Sidique Khan, described his motivation. (The tape had been edited and also featured Al Qaeda number two, Ayman al-Zawahiri, in a way intended to suggest a direct link between Khan and Al Qaeda; however, there has been no report that Khan said anything linking the bombing to Al Qaeda.)

"I and thousands like me are forsaking everything for what we believe. Our drive and motivation doesn't come from tangible commodities that this world has to offer. Our religion is Islam, obedience to the one true God and following the footsteps of the final prophet messenger. Your democratically elected governments continuously perpetuate atrocities against my people all over the world. And your support of them makes you directly responsible, just as I am directly responsible for protecting and avenging my Muslim brothers and sisters. Until we feel security you will be our targets and until you stop the bombing, gassing, imprisonment and torture of my people we will not stop this fight. We are at war and I am a soldier. Now you too will taste the reality of this situation."

On July 6, 2006, a video statement by Shehzad Tanweer was broadcast by Al-Jazeera. In the video, which also included remarks by al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, Tanweer said:

"What have you witnessed now is only the beginning of a string of attacks that will continue and become stronger until you pull your forces out of Afghanistan and Iraq. And until you stop your financial and military support to America and Israel." Tanweer argued that the non-Muslims of Britain deserve such attacks because they voted for a government which "continues to oppress our mothers, children, brothers and sisters in Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq and Chechnya" [34] [35] "

If you're referring to the attacks in Indonesia, they were against Western tourists. The attacks in Africa were against US infrastructure or US linked buildings. I'm really not sure how you can argue that Western policy hasn't driven Islamic Fundamentalism which has really been a vessel for, rather than a route cause of, action against perceived Western Imperialism, but I've known you to argue less tenable points for longer periods of time against more effort than I'm willing to put out.

^^as far as the anthrax, seems they targeted government officials and not citizens...i was never really scared of someone sending me anthrax

as far sa the snipers, they were caught...i mean, somebody got shot in charlotte last night...i guess that means we're not safer...

I feel pretty safe too, but that has nothing to do with T.W.A.T.

The true goal in terrorist attacks is not killing or injuring people, it's about eliciting an emotional response. Basically it's glorified trolling. The real victims aren't those that are killed or injured in an attack, but those who are baited by fear. TreeTwista10 is a good example of a victim.

Read this to get a better understanding:
http://www.powerseductionandwar.com/archives/the_terrorist_d.phtml

Quote :
"By the nature of its violence and drama, for terrorism is nothing more than an organized spectacle of violence, it is certain to stir emotions. Understanding the logic of terror, it is best to keep the attacks unpredictable, seemingly random. The first seed is sown by unbalancing the mind of the opposing commander. The terrorist act seems to warrant a strong response. In this case, strong replaces intelligent. To find this small group of radicals requires an oversized police force. The chain reaction effect is inevitably set in motion by the harsh reprisal. By entering their space with police or military presence, there are now more targets to hit, more waves of publicity to garner, making them seem larger, feeding their capacity to create the spectacle. Everything becomes imbalanced--society is polarized, disproportionate fear is stirred, more impatience and need for reprisals is manufactured. The desired avalanche is set off."

I'm not arguing that, I'm saying they were attacking innocent people before we went into Iraq...you're implying that our foreign policy is the reason...I contend the reason is mainly because of their batshit religious views and their sadistic indoctrination from a young age

i'll refer you to what you said earlier since you must have forgot

"The stated reason for every European attack was their alignment with the US over Iraq policy"

i said i feel safe...how is that worrying about them?

Quote :
"maybe a little bit of both?"

sure but i still think its mostly the fact that they're brainwashed from an early age to think its ok to blow up somebody for being on what you think is holy land...i like to use the analogy of a girl who dresses seductively and gets raped...the rapist (terrorist) is clearly at fault...maybe she (The USA) shouldnt have been out late at night dressed like a slut (being in the middle east) but that doesnt mean she deserves to get raped (blown up by suicide bomber attacks)

it just seems like sometimes people would rather put blame on the US for having troops there instead of...actually blaming the bombers who commit the crimes? that seems on par to blaming a gun manufacturer for the death of someone because a crazy person decided to use a gun to kill another person

Quote :

sure...although dont forget when US interests have been attacked by al queda...a couple of our battleships...embassies...other US interests that happen to be outside the continental US getting bombed...also before the 93 WTC bombing we were recently out of the cold war...threats were different...like it or not, there is a group of radical muslims who are at war with us

"Hope" is not a plan

"Change" is not always good

If you will think back to, oh, about 1932 or so - there was a man named Adolf Hitler. Germany was rife with economic woes, people were out of jobs, and quite disenchanted with the current government, and he was elected to power on the promise of "change". He was particularly charismatic and offered a chance to make everything better - better jobs, better economy, better life, and a better government.

Fast forward to 2008 - my does this look familiar?

I'm not saying that Obama is the next Hitler, rather encouraging you to think very carefully about the phrase "Those Who Forget History Are Doomed to Repeat It". Promises of unspecified "change" are not always good, and in the most famous case in history, it led to some of the worst horrors the modern world has ever seen.

Demand plans, and demand answers - don't just settle for empty promises of "change".
