well, that's your problem. Lost has taken several years for a payoff, and starting in S4 the payoff was coming pretty fast. Not to say there isn't a ton of unanswered questions, but they are spread out over several years, not just in a few episodes

^^ you forgot about Tatum O'Neal, who is totally acting like a drug addict

^ I've always thought that saying Lost "didn't give enough" answers was a cheap criticism of the show. Not that the show goes over peoples head, but you just have to pay attention more than a lot of shows and you will be rewarded.

^ Incorrect. A season of 75% flashbacks is not good writing. Sorry bud.

Was a definite drop off from last week.

We'll watch next week, but I don't know how long I can go if it continues to get worse.

Oh shit! This episode is dead in the water if we don't figure out how to find the killer. We need a fantastical device that reads minds ... and here it is!

And now let's go through the motions of a story line that the writers care so little about, it ends 10 minutes before the show actually ends.

I'll give them the magical laser device this time, but if this becomes a regular pattern in this show... game over.

I like the show although some of the shit they use is farfetched

Its like they took the Umbrella Corp from Resident Evil, plus the government themes from the X-Files, added a little Twilight Zone feel and mixed in a tidbit of horror to it.

I dont understand some of these complaints. You people are ok with shows where people have superpowers or set in futuristic time periods in space but complain about the fantasy theoretical science in this show?

I dont get it.

I dont get the same feeling from this show as I do from Lost and Heroes where I dont know whats going to happen next, and when a question is answered I am kinda caught off-guard

this show is pretty predictable, and they spell everything out for you (i.e. explaining what the pituitary gland does when most educated people already know this). I guess this show doesnt make me think enough...

I'll give it another week or two, but last night was a pretty big step back from the pilot episode

i laughed so hard when they explained to the junior FBI agent what the pituitary glad was.

I wish the creepiness would stick around for more than just the first segment. I wanted that killer to around making women's bodies explode from fast growing feti. but alas no, one creepy opening and then it was another procedural with a sci twist.

but the show is decent, i'll continue to watch

they should stretch out some of these cases to two or more episodes, it all seems very rushed. there really hasnt been any trial and error in so far, they have been able to solve all of the cases on the first try, which bothers me.

I really want to like this show

^that's what they want out of this series.

each episode to have its own case with mini-arcs and developing underlying conspiracies to be what ties together the main story itself. much like the way x-files was through its first few seasons.

this seems to have more csi procedural in it so i do understand where you are coming from. like someone said on page 1, it will get old fast if it just stays with something weird happening, then we learn it all begin with *the weird scientist's experiments, then he uses his knowledge to solve the phenomenon, then they track down subject and story ends* it will get old

You don't get it because you don't know good storytelling from bad storytelling. Scifi elements are nothing to complain about if they aren't used as crutches for mediocre writers. IOW, the scifi elements are window dressing on a core story that could easily be set somewhere else and still be compelling.

In this case, sci fi was used as a crutch because the writers were too lazy to come up with a way for the characters to do detective work to find the killer. Thus, the conflict was resolved without the audience seeing the characters develop in any way, without there being any suspense, and without any writing creativity. So, the problem wasn't that they used technology, it was that they were boring.

(If this story were set in 5000 BC, the equivalent would be some character praying to god one night and having a vision of who the killer was. Yeah, the whole bible sucks)

Pulling some random technology out of the blue that solves all of the episode's problems is about as lazy and uncreative as you can get, and you have to roll your eyes at the prospect of every future episode pulling the same shit.

The video game equivalent would be having a "Win" button on the controller.

This is the most ridiculous show ever. The characters on this show have no boundaries. In one scene we see the Joshua Jackson able to dissect a murder scene by only finding an orange glop in the bathroom and placing it on a q-tip. Latter in the episode he somehow is able to make a homemade defibrillator MacGyver style and resuscitate her and hopefully into stability. The father is amzed! by seat-warmers but somehow invents a way to figure out the last image burned onto the retina using a magical laser device (an item he apparently came up with in his mind, searched for a patent, and found out that this mysterious company, that is probably behind these strange killings, has the only functioning one in the world).

And what was that last image depicting at the end of the episode? Those rapidly aging soldiers?

I get the idea of calling it Fringe with the whole fringe science theme. But come on, this stuff isn't even in the realm of possibility.

Hooking a camera up to a dead person to see what they saw right before being killed & inducing a coma in someone so they can talk to someone who else who's also in a coma is a little beyond the fringe of science to me.

I thought that it was the dynamacorp place keeping all of the bodies of the fringe suspects. One was the agent she was sexing up who was a traitor, one was dude with the pituatary problem, and they are keeping them alive to do tests and continue to make problems like they were. I found myself captivated by the show while it was on, but as soon as it went off found myself making fun of all the plot inadequecies and terrible dialogue, and this is definitely how the show is going to be every time. "The pattern," is kind of an interesting idea, and also when the lady from dynacorp said, "Yes, amongst other things," when the main character cop lady asked if she was talking about the pattern.

Yea, that's probably right. I just couldn't get a good enough look on their faces.

I honestly hope this show tanks if it doesn't change. There's enough to keep me interested unfortunately that "enough" is mostly how ludicrous this show is.

Ok, the episode is not over, but this is the third strike, and now I can stop DVRing this.

This last one just seemed boring and wasn't more interesting than its competition - heros, terminator, and I presume Lost. If you are going to be a johnny-come-lately, you have to be more bold than your predecessors.

As with all new shows, I gave this one 3 episodes. It didn't deliver, I moved on. I think I was fair. You are acting like criticism of the show is hurting your feelings.

last night was the first episode i've watched and i didn't know much about it to start with, and i was 5 mins late, but my only reaction is

wat ?

oh and i don't like the tall scary black dude from lost. i have a hard time understanding him when he talks. also, what's with the lost music (high pitched stringed instruments) when nothing that dramatic is happening??

it was a definite improvement from last week, so i'll continue to watch next week, but i don't see me continuing much longer, especially when all of the returning shows come back.

meh, i'll keep watching. Just to see how crazy it gets by the end of the season. I think it's a little overboard on how they try and explain EVERYTHING...even then simple things.

"I consider myself a pretty good poker player. Which means I am able to deduct when someone is trying to lie. I can tell this by reading their tells. He has no tells, so he's not bluffing."

seriously?

Nevertheless...while not a great show at least its fairly entertaining...I'll keep watchin for a bit and see if this "Pattern" starts coming together

BTW whats up with all the little "clues" right before they cut to break....frogs with weird markings...leaves with more weird symbols....a fly wing on a dandelion....embryos in the seeds of 1/2 an apple...odd...
