^^He is so damn slow though. There is too much talent on that team, I think Love might have a better season than Oden statistically.

Greg oden could average 14 and 9

and that be a very impactful 14 and 9

If he is a defensive monster inside, and the blazers are contenders in the west, oden's 14 and 9 will go a long way

J.J. missed the bus before the Cavs game tonight and is being benched for the whole game as punishment

I was hoping to see him dunk on KG tonight

What a fucking idiot, benched for your first pro game ever, for missing the bus.

That's some NC State shit right there.

I'm excited about seeing the Lakers vs. Portland. "Black Mamba in the house" - Barkley

You sure D-Rod? Pulled this from a Cavs blog

• After he was the fourth big man virtually all preseason, JJ Hickson didn't get off the bench in the first half. No, he wasn't late to shootaround today. Lorenzen Wright got the minutes. Perhaps Mike Brown didn't want to put JJ in this tough environment just yet.

I figure maybe he did something dumb and coach was like "might as well bench him all game instead of throwing him into the fire against the NBA champs and KG"

Greg Oden...might as well get used to it. Rolled his ankle and hasn't played the 2nd half. He might have a decent career...but due to injuries, this guy will end up being a disappointment. Yao Ming 2.0.

http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2008/10/cavs_insider_hickson_fined_wes.html

Columbus - J.J. Hickson is learning some lessons the hard way.

The Cavaliers rookie forward didn't play until the fourth quarter of the team's 107-80 preseason victory over the Washington Wizards Friday because he missed the team bus for the morning shoot-around. Hickson, who got to Value City Arena late, will likely also be fined.

His teammates had their own special treatment, heckling him throughout the day for his indiscretion.

"He was going to sit there and if it was a closer game, he would've sat the whole game," Cavs coach Mike Brown said. "I usually don't do that . . . he's a rookie and he has to learn from his mistakes."

Hickson has had an up and down preseason, struggling at times with the speed of the game, especially on defense. But he appeared to solidify a spot in Brown's rotation before this hiccup.

Brown has challenged him on numerous occasions, routinely calling plays for him when he's been matched up against stars such as Elton Brand and Rasheed Wallace. He's also been taken under the wing of LeBron James, who hasn't been afraid to call Hickson out and dish out praise in practices and games.

"It's been harder being a rookie than I thought. I get more attention [from teammates and coaches] than anyone," Hickson said. "But it is good because it means they have high hopes for me. It has just reminded me of how tough this is going to be and how much work I have to put in."

West injured: Guard Delonte West, who made his second consecutive start at shooting guard and looked to be the favorite for that spot in Tuesday's regular-season opener in Boston, sprained his left ankle in the second quarter Friday night and sat out the second half.

He landed awkwardly and rolled it, causing it to swell. The team doesn't believe the injury is serious and West is hoping it will not hold him out of the opener against the defending NBA champion Celtics.

"If it was a regular-season game, I would've thought about going out there," West said. "We'll see. I could probably practice tomorrow on it."

Dribbles: Wizards assistant coach Randy Ayers spent a lot of time stopping to talk to old friends and shaking hands at Value City Arena. He was the head coach at Ohio State for eight years. . . . In a special promotion that runs from Monday to Wednesday next week, the Cavs are knocking 20 percent off face value for tickets to eight select home games.

It includes Thursday's home opener against the Charlotte Bobcats, which is not a sellout.

the TNT analysts were referring to him missing the bus as the reason he wasnt in the lineup. But, it could also be that he sat out the last preseason game, which gave Lorenzen Wright a chance to prove himself and move up in the depth chart for a few days.

who knows, I was just repeating what the announcers said on TNT during the game

Wow most people will never see it because they are never on national TV

but Minnesota has a fucked up looking court

Remember how Cleveland made the middle part of their court lighter a few years ago ?

That worked

Minnesota made theirs darker, much darker, like a deep brown color

It doesn't work at all

I always like Nelson at Duke... he is playing under control so far and I liked how he posted up Paul just then... I didn't realize he is from Vallejo and grew up a W's fan (thought he was from SoCal)...

I think I'm a go to the game next Friday at Oracle...

Lorenzen Wright looked like shit in the game against the Celtics. In one 2 minute stretch of the game, he picked up 3 fouls and completely missed a rebound that led to a Tony Allen put back. If Wright keeps playing like that, JJ will get some burn.

JJ had the top play on sportscenter tonight.

It was a decent dunk, but not #1 play-worthy. But gg JJ

Rockets looking good early in the season.

Ming was killing the mavericks last night and Artest looked in All-Star form. If he can keep this up, I put the Rockets as title contenders. And T-mac looks like he's playing at about 75% right now.

seems like the spurs have no one on their team but Duncan and Parker, they might be in trouble even when Ginobili comes back...

and after going to the knicks' home opener and being semi-excited, it's clear they still suck after getting blown out by the 6ers... just means miami is still going to suck this year...

Allen Iverson traded to Pistons in exchange for Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess

Quote :
"The Pistons have reached a tentative agreement with the Nuggets to trade Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess in exchange for Allen Iverson.
That would solve the Nuggets' point guard problems and Iverson is clearly not happy in Detroit. Neither player attended today's shootaround, and ESPN's Stephen A. Smith says the deal could be completed any minute. The big question is whether Iverson plays point guard or shooting guard in Detroit. Either way, he's going to gobble up a ton of guard minutes, which may not be great news for Rodney Stuckey and Rip Hamilton. Iverson has been walking through the motions in Denver, so this news is not all that surprising"

I like Billups...but this could be a good trade for the Pistons. They need more scoring punch, and at the very least a go-to-guy when they really need a bucket. Billups isn't exactly washed up, but he's become expendable with the emergence of Stuckey.

This does make the East a little more exciting. Shit, it probably makes Denver a little better too. They needed another big man too since the loss of Camby.

Interesting trade to say the least.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT

Please, please, please, let this happen. AI is my favorite player. Coming back to the east, getting away from the shithole that is Denver; with their worthless fucking coach, and even worse owner.

The Pistons frontline is going to be extremely thin though, that concerns me a lot. Their new & inexperienced coach is a factor as well. I love AI, but I don't see Detroit getting past the Lakers to win it all; or past Cleveland or Boston to win the East. I hope I'm wrong. This shit will make my entire winter & NBA season if it goes through.

Crosses fingers & waits.

Fuck, Detroit plays in Charlotte tonight. I was hoping I could see him play twice. Woo hoo, this also means that he'll be a starter in the All-Star game this year. As much as I love him there's no way he was going to beat out either CP3 or Kobe.

Billups was born in Denver and went to HS and College there. He's gotta be thrilled.

So we root for Vinny Del Negro and the Bulls to win tonight right, even though JJ is on the Cavs. Hopefully he'll get some playing time and a few stats.
