I think they're both horrible.

I guess I'll vote for Christopher Cole, whoever that is.

You know what else is worth checking out...why Hagen voted for the double secret "temporary" sales tax increase...and then voted to make it permament...with no interest at all in cutting spending.

We don't need more tax-n-spenders heading off to Washington.

KAY HAGAN, HER BOX GOES "CHA CHING" WHENEVER YOU PUMP GAS. SEE? IT'S ALL KAY HAGAN'S FAULT THAT THE GAS PRICES ARE HIGH.

YOU SHOULD MAKE SURE THAT WE TAKE OUT OUR FRUSTRATION AT THE PUMPS ON KAY HAGAN, BECAUSE HER FAMILY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO MAKE MONEY OFF OF ANYTHING THEY SELL. THEY SHOULD SELL IT FOR FREE.

"Mary Elizabeth Hanford "Liddy" Dole (born July 29, 1936) is an American politician who served in both the Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush presidential administrations, and currently serves as a United States senator from North Carolina. She was elected to the Senate in 2002 and is the first female senator for North Carolina. She is running for re-election in the United States Senate election in North Carolina, 2008. Elizabeth Dole is considered among many in NC to be a carpetbagger due to the fact of her not having lived in NC for over 40 years prior to her election as senator."

Look you guys have carpetbagger Hillary- who had never lived in New York before she was elected as far as I know.

And, besides, Libby voted against the Bailout/Sellout bill- that's my kind of carpetbagger!

Well I do not live in fucking NY and I am not voting for a NY senator. I thought it was ridiculous though when she got elected; none the less at least Hillary actually owns a sizeable dwelling in NY. To which she pays taxes. Where as Libby merely slapped her residency under her mom's house.

so apparently shes gonna lose? i figured she'd win and it would just be closer than normal but this article:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20081004/pl_politico/14280;_ylt=AqFYS0dMRq7BmYGvHzabvbCyFz4D

makes it sound like shes def gonna lose

excerpts

"A top official in the McCain camp told us Sen. Elizabeth Dole is virtually certain to lose in conservative North Carolina. "

The race is close and it is more important to keep Hagan out than to put a libertarian in.

you know what's really important, though, is keeping Hagen out because she talks to Godless Americans!!

or, that's what Dole thinks is important, considering the mailer she just sent out

btw, the "Godless Americans Political Action Committee", which is "the national lobby for atheists, humanists, freethinkers and other nontheistic Americans with the unique mission of protecting their civil rights" are the most "vile, radical liberals in America," according to Dole

I would say you're wrong on that one. For example, the de facto national drinking age? Elizabeth Dole, circa her stint as Reagan's transportation secretary.

There's one turd that needs to get flushed.

I can't bring myself to pull the lever for Kay Hagan (unless it's really, really close near election day - and I don't think it is). But putting Liddy Dole back in office has to be the worst thing for libertarians imaginable, in that you'd be further entrenching such an awful incumbent.

Libertarianism means more than just taxes, you know.

I haven't decided on Dole or Hagan yet.

I've read through this thread and seen many posts citing that Dole has done nothing for NC. What did she need to do that needed doing?

Things i like about her:

- ranks lowest on earmarks (i guess some of you are only against pork when other state senators do it)
- voted against the bailout bill.

Things I don't like about her:

- Does seem to be physically absent from NC a little too much. I'm not entirely certain if this is enough for me to vote for someone who has a record of raising taxes though...

She completely bailed on North Carolina when it came to the OLF until everyone and their mothers came out against it. She was cheerleading it all the way through before he epiphany on the road to damascus.

I think it is fair to say that Hagan has cut as many taxes as she has raised, especially during the long session (before she was even thinking about running) and during the short session.

I thought it was absurd that Dole got into office, especially the way she got eligible to run for office. She's barely in NC, and doesn't give 2 shits about NC, just her status in DC. Peace out you carpetbagging vapid cunt, I'll be voting against you.

My girlfriend and I caught the last half of that Dole ad where she rails against the "non-believers" and "homosexuals". We actually thought it was some kind of parody ad at first but then laughed out of sheer horror that it was, indeed, a real ad from the Dole campaign.

there were actually a lot of people that became unsure of how old Dole was because of that commercial.... granted they probably weren't the sharpest tacks in the box, but it still made people question it.

some of her new direct mail has a picture of her that is just awful. looks like her front two teeth are missing.

I'm voting for Hagan. Dole hasn't done anything. I haven't heard her name since the last election. She's been mostly involved in partisan things like the "elect republicans" committee.

I've been pleasantly surprised by Richard Burr. When I write to them, he always responds in a thoughtful way, whereas she doesn't usually respond. And when she does respond, it's a form letter.

Dole has no business representing NC, as she has lived her entire life in Washington DC and Kansas.

Oh yea, and her campaigning has been disgraceful. I've yet to hear her give a reason to vote for her, only against Hagan. So if you are against Hagan, make sure you write somebody else in, b/c there is no reason to vote for Dole.

Look Dole may be nothing to write home about. But putting tax-hiking Hagen in--you are helping the democrats put together a bullet-proof senate.

It would be very dangerous to liberty and the economy to let the democrats have total control of the gov't.

Look, the Republicans have had their shot. Their vision has resulted in disaster on every front. You need to let go of your ideology and accept that it hasn't worked. Give somebody else a try and then decide 6 years from now.

Christopher Cole - the Libertarian on the ballot. That is, if you're looking for an economic conservative.

Now queue the whines about "...but he'll never win (so I won't even bother)."
