What types of questions are asked in the interviews?

Well I have to respond in an ethical manner here.

The types of interview questions will vary based on your experience.

All interviews typically have the same types of questions. Some of them are as follows:

So far as the final interviews - they wont interview you on things they dont prepare you to know. We were given resources to prepare us x days before the interview. However, if you already possess a certification expect to be held to that level of knowledge, given of course your experience and use of said certification.

So far as the typical personality/behavior interview, that all depends on who you are vs who you project yourself to be.

I was more curious how technical they got with the questions.. I'm not asking exact questions or anything lol. Are they giving you like technical "what if" situations or is it more the stuff you posted?

What types of subjects are they having you study/be prepared for? Just trying to get an idea of the level it takes to get through the interview process.. I should probably research the program more though and I'd find the answer myself

Obviously not everyone there is technical. There is a minimum set of things they will tell you that you should know and provide you the resources to know them. Its only fair, right? Exactly.

As for what types of technical questions... I ended up drawing out a complete MPLS VPN network describing LSPs (L2 and L3). Honestly it did scare me because I had to go off of instinct instead of fresh knowledge if that makes any sense. I used to draw it out and explain it all the time, but I havent done it in 10 months or so. I re-read the information the night before, but its a lot different when you have to explain it while drawing it out on a whiteboard. Add to that the people interviewing you have CCIE's, but thankfully they were more nurturing than critical.

As I said it depends on your experience, knowledge level, and what you feel comfortable with. If you tell them you know TCP/IP really well, expect them to expect you to be able to draw out a good majority of both headers AND explain the function of each field.

However they arent there to question you until you fail, or at least with the intent of "breaking" you. In this particular situation they want to see your aptitude and how well you can articulate what you know. That is the primary function of this role. I would also argue that is a good portion of most support jobs too.

Hell I was asked about redundancy and ended up speaking about HSRP. I have only read it maybe 2 or 3 times in my career, but they were accepting of that and didnt expect me to know it inside and out.

^ you might end up being better off.

layoffs might be coming, there have been some fairly credible rumors floating around.

ASE/ASRs would probably be one of the first to go. (this is me speculating based on what i saw in 2000)
