I don't know why they just didn't give the ball to Stewart on that 3rd and 2.

Quote :
"all punt protection blocks are half-assed... that's the idea, to just block long enough to release."

How about Goings' block against Chicago? Was that sufficient?

I think we all understand that the punt coverage team needs to get down field to tackle the returner but that's irrelevant if the punt gets blocked. Goings is always too anxious and releases early. Baker and Goings both made mistakes on that play.

Goings was trying to keep him outside, he dropped the snap, it bounced forward and to the right right into Benjamin or whoever it was that blocked it. He caught that one, so no worries. sometimes it's just bad luck.

Knee injury...doesn't look good

Damn, last o-line? What would they do if another one got hurt, bring in a defensive guy?

Did they just take a game break to tell us about a game that was already happening?

From the ESPN recap:

Steve Smith celebrated his first touchdown of the season with an emphatic spike that sent the ball into the stands. His Carolina Panthers teammates then watched as he frantically tried to retrieve the ball from a fan.

"I was trying to tell him, 'Hey, don't, just give it to him,'" Jake Delhomme said. "And he said, 'No, I need to do something with it.'"

Nearly two months after he broke teammate Ken Lucas' nose with a sucker punch, Smith handed the ball to Lucas on the sideline, perhaps the final chapter of the ugly training-camp incident as the cohesive Panthers celebrated a 24-9 win over the Atlanta Falcons Sunday.

"I was going to congratulate him on the touchdown and he said, 'This is for you,'" Lucas said. "He took the high road and that showed a lot about him as a person."

Good to hear ... but it seems almost too sweet you know? Like winning a stuffed animal at the fair and giving it to the girl you have a crush on.

like winning a stuffed animal at a fair, giving it to a child, and taking it away to give to a guy whose nose you broke a couple months ago

[Edited on September 28, 2008 at 11:38 PM. Reason : like scoring a touchdown, spiking it into the stands, and begging for it back so you can give to]

^^hahha

all this is hopefully coming to a close but its all very weird, the sign saying "this is for you", the ball, all of it seems like good mixed with bad feelings

but whatever they're trying to put it behind them

but as far as nick goings, i think hes having a mental breakdown becuase he went from a #4, to a #1 back then back to a #3 back with virtually no playing time
so give the man a break

Overthrown passes in their secondary will have much different results than overthrown passes in either of the two previous games. FFS get the running game going, we're gonna need it.

Jake wasn't THAT BAD in the Lions game...he was 10/19 (with a couple dropped passes), 1 TD, 0 INT...he didn't NEED to do much more since we had 3 rushing TDs...he just seems like he had a horrible game because everyone is still flipping out over the Oakland game (which we won btw)

This game lost a bit of it's importance with the Falcons losing on Sunday, but it's still big in that we can essentially knock them out of the playoff race with a win (i think 11 wins will be the cutoff for wild card teams in the NFC this year).

they're a good team

the falcons are still 4-1 at home, and I doubt they'll want to lose two home games in a row

the panthers have to play better this week than in the last two, for sure

what happened to those 4 or 5 recievers.
right now its steve smith or nothing, we're not even using moose,
they have too many weapons not to use them, if they do then we're going all the way

Hey you
(get your damn hands off her)

i mean..i title it how i want

that being said, it will be titled ***Official Panthers vs. Falcons Thread v2.0***

superstition tells me not to put an @ in the title, as we've yet to do that so far
