^^Pretty much knew all that, but it's still pretty unnerving to read in an article.

Like most people, I want an NBA team in my home state ... i want to have a dog in the fight so to speak. I'm just not sure I want the Bobcats.

Ideally, Johnson would sell the team to someone who lives in Charlotte and actually cares about the community. Then, the new owner would rename the team to cleanse it of Johnson's shitiness, maybe the cougars or the flight (which would have been 10x better than the fucking bobcats). Then they'd remove Jordan and all the other incompetent front-office people.

Then maybe it'd be a lot easier to root for the NBA team in Charlotte.

Charlotte has more people in its area than Portland and Ok City I would say.....

Other than that possibly the smallest NBA city.

^Not even close

Charlotte has more people than:

Milwaukee
Memphis
Sacramento
New Orleans
Orlando
Minneapolis
Denver

[Edited on October 23, 2008 at 12:53 AM. Reason : There might be others but those were the obvious ones]

Charlotte has double the people that St. Louis does and NC can't get a MLB team.

St. Louis had like 5th highest attendance in MLB this year....

they're also 2nd in number of world series championships, but as of right now charlotte cant support a mlb team...i doubt raleigh could...and no other city could...maybe in 10-15 years...its not all about population although that certainly helps

Yeah and the Marlins are staying in Miami to play in a new stadium at the site of the former Orange Bowl.

We could do better than they do.....they average less than 10,000 a game.

^ thats the same bs logic i hear about how people can't cheer for the panthers because of pep. Anyways #19 and if wells doesn't complete wipeout wachovia Charlotte could be top 15 soon. Right in the middle of the east coast and a perfect place to live. Raleigh is #48!!! Look for it to be top 40 within 5 years.

terrible shooting. augustin and felton have been terrible all preseason. even carroll has been ice cold this preseason. i think morrison has actually looked pretty good in limited minutes this season. i realize they probably need to move one of these wing players, but i dont know who'd be the best to go at this point.

But who do you think will have the largest impact this year; Beasley, Rose, Oden?

The bobcats are a whole different story from the panthers. I honestly don't think state fans minded that, initially, the team seemed loaded with Tar Heel players. It's the fact that the whole front office and coaching staff seem to be ex-heels.

Movin' on up !

I'm usually hyped for the Bobcats season to start, but this year the realization that this team will never be a contender as long as the current regime is in place is beginning to damper my enthusiasm before the season even starts

^^Each year I lose enthusiasm for this team because of that.

Larry Brown got hired because nobody else would hire him and we an old UNC guy a favor.

I used to watch every game, now I am not sure if I will tune in at all.

One of Bill O'Rielly's 20 predictions for the NBA season:

Quote :
"11. With Isiah finally gone from the Knicks, Charlotte will assume the mantle as the most frustrated franchise in the NBA.

Let's go through the Frustrated Franchise Checklist ...

Overmatched owner who's in over his head? (CHECK)

Overmatched GM who gets routinely mocked by his peers? (CHECK)

Lack of a franchise player or any potential star? (CHECK)

Either a terrible coach or a veteran coach with a ballyhooed history of quitting on teams going nowhere? (CHECK)

Disturbed fan base that's already written off the brain trust as a bunch of clowns and wouldn't mind if the team just moved somewhere else? (CHECK)

Series of poor decisions that left the team crippled for the foreseeable future? (Let's see ... Adam Morrison over Brandon Roy, $27 million for Matt Carroll, $72 million for Emeka Okafor, $25 million per year for Gerald Wallace and Jason Richardson, trading for Nazr Mohammed's onerous contract, D.J. Augustin over Brook Lopez/Jerryd Bayless ... CHECK!)

It's a mess. Everything peaked when Charlotte passed on Lopez, a ghastly move that became five times worse when the Bobcats went 0-8 in the preseason partly because they only had one NBA-ready power forward (Sean May) who showed up so out of shape that Larry Brown announced publicly (I'm paraphrasing), "We have to slow things down and change the way I wanted to play because our only power forward can't run for more than three minutes without potentially puking all over the place."

Now here's the weird part: There's a famous story about last year's draft that Charlotte called Lopez and told him that they were taking him, then Brown talked them out of it at the last second because he wanted a point guard ... leading to an incredible moment when Lopez's jaw dropped in shock on live TV as he heard the words "D.J. Augustin." I heard this story in various forms all summer, then Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski wrote about it last week as if it were true. So screw it, maybe it's true. I would believe anything with the 2009 Charlotte Bobcats.

That has nothing to do with anything, really... The MSA is much smaller (32nd) and most importantly the TV market is tiny for a major pro sports town, especially one with a baseball team. Charlotte is the 42nd largest TV market in the US.

Behind such MSAs as Charleston/Huntington, Albany, Sacramento, Kalamazoo/Grand Rapids, Louisville, Dayton, etc, etc, etc...

[Edited on October 30, 2008 at 10:09 PM. Reason : of the top 150 MSA's the Triangle has grown the most by % since 2000 according to wiki]

^^plus the Cardinals have what, 10 World Series titles? They have enough history and prestige to support 81 home games a year...Charlotte definitely doesn't

Morrison did look alright...so did J-Rich...anybody hear Larry Brown's post game comments? something to the effect of "I don't know how, but we need Sean May to lose weight and get in shape"

^seemed almost inevitable he would bench may since he only thought he could get a good 5 minutes out of him each half

if you are supposed to be a good nba player and only have the stamina to play hard 10 minutes out of 48 you need to be benched

Here's some analysis from Fox Sports' Charley Rosen. I think this dude's analysis of the NBA is freaking horrible, I don't even know how he has a job.

"Brown's Bobcats aren't that bad, or are they?"
