oh i completely understand the cycle people can find themselves in. i think america is just too fascinated with the "quick fix." people go on diets and then they don't work after a few days, they get frustrated, and all of a sudden nothing works for them.

i mean i'm not going to lie, when i have gained weight in the past, i want it gone immediately. this is why i'm on the fence with the choice of who gets the gastric bypass/lap band surgery. obviously there are guidelines in place, which there should be. but i have seen a number of shows dedicated to it where the person is like "well i'm getting lap band so i'll change my habits after the surgery." and then it's hard for them after the surgery to live a healthier lifestyle because they can't eat the foods they once loved. i've also seen and read stories where the people completely change and adapt. i think while there are weight and health guidelines in place, doctors and insurance companies aren't completely looking into the person's psychological mind set. their journey of doing the surgery is more than physical and i don't think some people realize that (especially the increasing number of teens getting it done).
