oh man. yeah, nick and i tried that out. we watched two episodes and we were donnnneee. SO much hype. it was supposed to be the Lost of the 90s. but it ended up just being a lot of idiots with bad haircuts and acid washed jeans booo.

I do two at a time - blu-ray. Most of the time we can't watch them faster than that.

haaay yea i was living without internet for like 3 years... really wasn't a neccessity since i was out of school. i just got a new laptop and have started doing jewelry parties so i figured why not... can write it off on my taxes and get work stuff done!

you should really check out kiss kiss bang bang. it's has robert downey jr and val kilmer in it. probably one of the most overlooked movies the year it came out.

yea i was worried once i got it back it would be like giving a recovering cokehead a lil bump, but none of my good friends are ever on aim and judging from it it looks like tww has went downhill. i go on myspace and facebook every once in a while, but other that i just use it for downloading music i've missed and doing grown up things like paying bills.

we have been on a doc. kick lately, the last one we got was The Corporation. was good.
also, Mysterious Skin was pretty neat. i love joseph gordon-levitt.

PLUS. DID YOU KNOW? you can stream movies online for free for most plans. i thought you had to pay for them, but i just found out you do not. so, if you have/get an s-video cable, you can stream to the tv! i'm sure you knew that, but i was excited to find out

found this randomly on Watch Instantly. Pretty fascinating documentary on anabolic steroids, everything from the growth of its popularity to the actual health effects.

I saw someone mention Throne of Blood earlier. I've been using netflix to watch a lot of Kurosawa films and I'd recommend them in this order for someone wanting to get into them:

Seven Samurai: Its a classic that is the source of so much of what came after it in movies

Yojimbo / Sanjuro: Very watchable Kurosawa

Rashomon: Another important Kurosawa film that's easier to watch once you've gotten a feel for his style and Toshiro Mifune's acting

Throne of Blood: Mentioned earlier, my favorite. Macbeth in the style of Noh theater

The Hidden Fortress: Provided a lot of the inspiration for starwars expecially the peasants on which R2D2 and C3PO were based.

Red Beard: Kurosawa's last movie with Toshiro Mifune and one of the best

Ran: Kurosawa's not at his best after losing Mifune and most of his other collaborators but makes one last great movie.

Stray Dog: I'm not as much as a fan of Kurosawa's films set in post-war Japan but I really liked this one.

The Lower Depths: Interesting message on religion and our need for illusions.

Also, all the Kurosawa DVDs that I've gotten from netflix have been criterion editions, so they come with really outstanding commentary tracks by authors of books about Kurosawa films.

i would start off with yojimbo and sanjuro first. shorter and a bit more action-y. seven samurai is of course fucking great but for those with short attention spans it's torture.

^ I agree. After watching yojimbo, it's a lot easier to appreciate other Kurosawa movies. Its a good way to get to know Mifune also.

i'd like some good horror movie recommendations. i haven't seen too many of them (including the classics) so any titles are welcomed. i have a few on the queue currently, but i don't feel like logging in to look. i know i have:

The Shining (seen it once)
The Exorcist

i'm not really into zombie stuff, but did enjoy 28 days later and dawn of the dead.
thanks.
