The estimate wasn't off by a factor of a thousand. US citizens over 18, or about about 226 million people. That comes out to a bit over $3,000 per person. $200,000 divided by 1,000 is only $200.

All this goes to show that humans generally suck with numbers. It's one of the things the machines beat us at early on.

(I still wouldn't mind three thousand bucks from Uncle Sam.)

K, I found my numbers. All US citizens that are over 18, and own a mortage, can split the $750 billion and get about $20K.
