Really? I'd say it's "college kid" based on this statement alone.

1 - location, sex, background
cary, nc; male; upper middle class all my life. currently at NCSU, work at SAS and volunteer as a medic.

2 - self take
i'm pretty liberal. i don't really like to get in to partisan politics.

3 - homos? yay/nay (gay rights/opinions)
i think everyone on here knows the answer to this. i'm all for equal rights. i'm not big into the whole pride thing, though - we should have the same rights and privileges as our straight counterparts. anything else is outright discrimination.

4 - kill 'em all yay/nay? (death penalty)
an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. our penal system is messed up beyond repair.

5 - border control
close 'em up. everyone that enters the country who isn't a citizen should have to get a visa.

6 - giving money to poor folk from rich folk just because they are rich? (taxes)
i don't necessarily agree with tax breaks just for the hell of it on the middle class, but we don't need any more increases in that bracket, and we certainly need to stop giving tax breaks and incentives to the top 5% of america. this includes businesses.

7 - religious preference? (should be in #1 perhaps)
i don't really have one. i think there's an omniscient being of some sort (not necessarily god), but i don't think he/she really wants people to give up their sunday morning to tell him/her how great they are.

8 - foreign policy (general)
we need to stop getting in to other people's shit.

9 - guns?
in an ideal world, there would be none. that can't ever happen, though. make the permit process tougher and more invasive - if you feel that you should be allowed to own a handgun, you should be willing to let the government see your personal life and history to determine whether or not you are correct.

10 - killing fetuses? (abortion)
mom's choice.

11 - baby mamma support? (welfare)
welfare is a fucking joke. let natural selection take its course. if you're retarded enough to keep having kids when you can barely make the payment on your trailer, you don't have any use on this earth. that being said, it's not the kids fault - until the problem takes care of itself, the kids should be taken care of by the government.

12 - military use/preference/size etc
we should only use military force in response to a direct attack on a U.S. property.

13 - statistical stealing of money? (lottery?)
more money for schools. it's not my fault you're dumb enough to purchase lottery tickets.

14 - give someone under qualified a job over someone more qualified? (affirmative action)
i am 100% against this. affirmative action, in and of itself, perpetuates the very stereotypes it seeks to eliminate. how can you be given equal rights if you are given preferential treatment?

15 - education? (opinions ideas changes)
most public school systems are pretty messed up. we need to fix the systems, then throw more money into them. this probably won't ever happen, though.

16 - public transit/ transit infrastructure?
i don't use it - raleigh isn't big enough to warrant a significant public transit infrastructure.

17 - energy policies?
nuclear all the way. get rid of the coal plants.

18 - population / social control
china's got the right idea, but they executed it horribly. there shouldn't be a hard limit to the number of children you can have, per se... but let's cut off welfare/medicaid/tax credits/etc after the second child.

"I love the death penalty, in fact take the criminal outback and shoot him square in the head. People these days are realizing there's no punishment for their actions due to bleeding heart Americans. They can rape, murder, rob, and use excessive violence for a smack on the hand and maybe some probation.

It's fucked up. Once people realize there are dire consequences for the horrendous acts they are committing maybe the crime rate will go down."

i guess i'll never understand the hypocrisy from the people that advocate murdering murderers because murder is the worst thing you can do.

the crime rate will go down if they change the definition of what real crime is, and then put those who break the law on WORK FARMS to replace the immigrant labor we have now. the only thing thats gonna make a criminal avoid jail is making them get off their lazy asses.

wow, p 1 has a far left winger. scary shit.

And to those who support abortion & oppose the death penalty:

How can you support killing an innocent person while fighting to save the life of a murderer?

Embryos and fetuses aren't exactly people.

I mean, do you hold a funeral for miscarriage?

Not usually.

^^so you would kill a soon to be child, whom you created, and is innocent, but fight to save the life of a man who raped and murdered your wife?

That's not the kind of situation I'm likely to be in.

Barring some sex-change operation, abortion ain't a decision for me to make.

gg on dodging the issue. Is that Obama's stance? "I'm not a woman, so I have no business in the matter." "I'm not gay, so I have no businesss in the matter."

I don't think so.

A soon to be child is not a human being, and has no moral status. Sorry.

My SO doesn't believe in it unless it was rape or incest, I say we do not fully know the circumstances and do not have the right to make the choice for someone else. The same people saying poor people shouldn't breed are the ones against abortion. What if a smart person with no financial means accidentally gets pregnant (broken condom, etc) and realizes they cannot afford the lifestyle they would want for the child. Is it wrong for them to get an abortion? Are they doing society a favor or acting selfishly as a murderer?

I wouldn't have a wife either.

Your hypothetical ain't applicable.

As I said, abortion, particularly late-term abortion, makes me uncomfortable. If it were my decision, I doubt I'd do it. But I only see harm in making the practice illegal. If you want to reduce abortions, promote birth control and fight the patriarchy. I absolutely reject state control of people's bodies.

That's the way it should be with all our rights. If you feel like you should have the right to be secure in your possessions, then you should let the government investigate first to make sure you have nothing to hide. Ditto for verifying your religious beliefs and your political speech.

Look, the 2nd Amendment it about keeping the kind of guns that kill people so you can kill people when the time comes. There are certainly times where it is legal to kill. If you think this is a moral abomination, then you need to go about repealing the amendment, not watering it down and consequently weakening the other rights. If it is in the Bill of Rights we need to zealously guard all of them. Period.

I jump in

1 - Male, Rural South, Poor. We get an undeserved, terrible reputation
2 - Moderate about gov't, social liberal.
3 - I think is is absurd for a person to even consider prohibiting gay marriage.
4 - Pro death penalty, though it should be used even more rarely than it is now.
5 - Lock them the fuck up, or process everyone and let them in. Financial studies have shown that legal immigrants positively influence our economy in many ways. The same can't be said for illegals.
6 - A simple pyramid of taxation is good for me. Higher rate for the more rich.
7 - Atheist
8 - Stop policing the world. Most of the conflicts we get involved in, militarily or politically, don't having a fucking thing to do with us.
9 - Pro guns, criminals with get them anyway. It only removes guns from the hands of people that abide by the laws anyway.
10 - I have a penis (abortion)
11 - Needs reform (welfare)
12 - Bring em' home. We need to be less trigger happy, but maintain a well funded military at home.
13 - Poor tax
14 - Affirmative action is fucking ridiculous, crutches never help anyone.
15 - I don't know much about this one, but things need to change for sure.
16 - In Europe, the more wealthy live in cities, while the poor live in the outskirts. The opposite is true in America so this one will be hard for us, but we need it.
17 - Nuclear all day, every day.
18 - This one is tricky.

just want to throw in an addendum. . .

i readily acknowledge that the filthy rich are far more depraved and shallow than any really poor person, and completely out of touch. when i said "well-to-do", i simply meant good people with sound minds who make a living which can afford the raising of a child.
