I have one that's come in somewhat crooked and has moved the alignment of my bite. Sometimes it cuts the inside of my cheek real bad but other than that it's fine. Getting it pulled scares me. It can be a pain to clean because behind it is hard to reach but I've had enough practice and manage it just fine.

All I can say is that I had my wisdom teeth out 3 days before my sophomore year started and I ended up having to drop that semester. Lots of pain, lots of painkillers, and not a lot of food.

I RECEIVED NERVE DAMAGE BECAUSE I KEPT TALKING WHILE THEY WERE CRUSHING MY TEETH. I STILL REMEMBER THE SOUND AND FEELING OF CRUSHING TEETH IN MY FACE.

It's not caused any pain due to growing, just side effects like cutting my cheek because it's crooked. There's no nerve pain or pushing on my other teeth so I'm fine.

I WAS SO FUCKED UP THAT I WOULDN'T STOP TALKING. THEY GAVE ME TWICE THE DOSE THAT THEY ORIGINALLY INTENDED TO AND I STILL WOULDN'T SHUT UP. I MEAN, I ONLY REMEMBER BITS AND PIECES, BUT I NEVER WENT OUT. I RECALL TELLING El Borracho OR SOMEBODY ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING HOME AND I KEPT SAYING "I WONT REMEMBER THIS IN A WHILE," AND SURE ENOUGH I DIDN'T.

WHEN I WENT BACK FOR MY CHECKUP THE DOCTOR KEPT ASKING ME IF I USED DRUGS OR DRANK HEAVILY. HE SAID HE'D NEVER SEEN SOMEONE HANDLE THAT MUCH SHIT WITHOUT SHUTTING UP.

I RECALL HIM GIVING ME A SYRINGE FULL OF THE SHIT VIA IV AND WALKING AWAY. I CONTINUED TO TALK AND HE IGNORED ME AND PUT THE NITROUS THING IN MY NOSE. I CONTINUED TO TALK AND THEN HE CAME OVER AND INJECTED A SECOND SYRINGE FULL OF THE SHIT, STILL IGNORING ME (HE FIGURED I WAS OUT OF IT BUT STILL TALKING, IN REALITY, I WASN'T EVEN FUCKED UP). THEN WITHIN A MINUTE OR TWO I WAS TOTALLY FUCKED BUT COMPLETELY CONSCIOUS AND RATHER COHERENT. I KEPT FORGETTING THAT I WAS IN SURGERY AND I'D ASK HIM SHIT. THEN THEY'D SAY "YOU CAN'T TALK RIGHT NOW." INSTEAD OF JUST SHUTTING UP, I'D SAY "OH, OK!" AND THEN A FEW MINUTES LATER I'D FORGET AND KEEP TALKING.

I COULD HEAR AND FEEL TEETH CRUSHING AND FOR SOME REASON I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THAT IT WAS UNUSUAL OR A PROBLEM IF I TALKED WHILE THAT WAS GOING ON.

NOW I CAN'T FEEL A SMALL PART OF THE LEFT FRONT PART OF MY JAW.

I guess everyone is different. Like I said, 3 of mine were out and there wasn't much pain because they didn't have to cut the gum. You'll feel 10 times better after they are gone. I didn't even need pain killers.

YES, IF YOU SMOKE DO NOT PULL SO HARD THAT YOU SUCK OUT THE BLOOD SLUGS.

I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. THERE WAS NO FUCKING WAY THAT I WASN'T GOING TO SMOKE AFTER THAT SURGERY. YOU CAN FEEL THE LOW PRESSURE PULLING ON THE BLOOD SLUGS. DO NOT LET THOSE FUCKERS COME OUT. I HAD TO HIT THAT BONG LIKE 50 TIMES EACH DAY AFTER THE SURGERY. THE BLOOD SLUGS WERE ON THE VERGE OF COMING OUT A FEW TIMES SON.

I was fine by the second day after my wisdom teeth were taken out

no heavy painkillers (vicodin, etc)

I had some advil and slept the numbness off, then mostly stuck to liquids and ice cream

but like I said earlier, I was very used to the process of getting teeth extracted by then

I didn't bother being put under, either, so I'm not sure if that would also affect recovery time

VICODIN IS NOT A HEAVY PAIN KILLER, AT ALL.

OH AND THEY DON'T "PUT YOU UNDER," YOU'RE SEDATED, SO OF COURSE IT DOESN'T AFFECT THE RECOVERY TIME.

I just meant that I wasn't prescribed anything that wasn't over-the-counter.

The effects of being put under might mean a longer recovery time. I wasn't talking about my case specifically, just trying to shed some light on why recovery might not have been such a big ordeal for me. Some people really do pay to get fully sedated when the procedure is done (knocked out completely). I had nitrous and the stuff they shoot into your teeth and gums, but I was still awake.

My brother and I got all of our wisdom teeth (for a grand total of 8) removed the same day at basically the same time. Ours were pretty impacted as well. Don't you envy my parents?

By the time we got home from the dentist my brother was talking up a storm and wanted to eat. I slept/watched movies for several hours before I was ready to chat and eat cut-up hot dogs. Either way, a very short recovery time. You basically want to get a good dentist, as recommended by people whose teeth he has removed.

^^^^I was fully "under". I was not sedated and awake. I was put under by an anaseiologist (fuck looking up that spelling). SaabTurbo you should have done that, guess you went the cheap route though, gg.

I had all four of my wisdom teeth cut out on a Friday morning. I was back at high school (senior year) on Monday. The only pain meds I had (after the first day) were 800mg advil. Swelling went down after a few days, and I only ate soft food for a week or so.

Just get it taken care of. You don't want problems down the road, and you don't want fucked up teeth like Kiwi.

And if you really want all your questions asked, I dunno maybe ask an oral surgeon your dentist recommends

Got all of mine pulled. Dental insurance ftw

Two of mine were done fully under and two with laughing gas (long story). Either way was fine really and after the second round I went shopping at the mall with my mouth still numb from the Novocaine I didn't even use the painkillers they gave me the second time I had them done.

I got all four of mine cut out during Christmas Break of freshman year. Used an oral surgeon, and I was like SaabTurbo, I wouldn't shut up. The surgeon ended up calling that night because he was worried... they had to change out the tank of nitrous after I left, and it had just been replaced that morning. He also said that if you're fair-skinned and have a small mouth, you will have a worse recovery period, but I ate cheeseburgers that same night, never had any swelling, or anything.

But, supposedly, I was the exception to the rule. Plan for a rough recovery, and be really happy if you are one of the lucky ones.

I've had mine surgically removed (all 4)before they came in because they were growing all cock-eyed. It wasn't that bad. The drugs are good, the surgeon was good. The only thing that sucked was the cotton in my mouth for the first day. Other than that, I was fine.

I think when they are already in, they just pull them out. So, you should be fine, I think.

I didn't read any of this thread, so I'm sure I'm repeating what someone is saying. I really don't care. I hate [words]

This is going to vary from each individual, but for me it was a few weeks. I was still able to function and do school work and stuff. The biggest impact for me was the food. Forget about anything you have to chew, you'll be living on smoothies, yogurt and ice cream for awhile.

i was fine two days after all mine were removed, running around, biking, smoking, etc.

the best thing you can do to aid recovery is to sleep sitting up so that blood doesn't rush to your head.
that way you won't have fat chipmunk cheeks afterwards and the pain is far less.

also avoid those gnarly dry sockets. they aint no joke.

OH DUDE, YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN Ahmet AFTER HE GOT HIS REMOVED. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYBODY GET A CHIPMUNK FACE THAT FUCKING BAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I ACTUALLY LAUGHED AT HIM WHEN I SAW IT AND THEN I TOLD HIM TO GIVE ME HIS VICODIN SON.

^ TO THE SECOND QUOTE. THAT'S WHAT A DOUBLE DOSE OF BENZODIAZEPINES COMBINED WITH NITROUS OXIDE WILL DO TO YA SON. I FIGURED JANITORS AT DUKE KNEW THAT SHIT SON. HE WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE SEDATED ME BUT IT FAILED IN A LOT OF WAYS. SURE, I WAS FUCKED UP AS HELL, BUT I SURE AS HELL WASN'T SEDATE.

HE KEPT ASKING ME IF I USED DRUGS OR DRANK ALCOHOL HEAVILY WHEN I CAME BACK FOR MY CHECK UP. I SAID, "NO" AND HE WAS LIKE, "ARE YOU SURE YOU DON'T DRINK A LOT?"

HE SAID HE'D NEVER GIVEN ANYONE THAT MUCH OF THE BENZO BEFORE AND HAD THEM STILL BE THAT CONSCIOUS AND COHERENT. I JUST HANDLE MY DRUGS WELL SON. I WAS IN AND OUT OF AWARENESS BUT I NEVER ACTUALLY DOZED OFF. IT'S JUST THAT I WOULD TALK FOR A WHILE, FORGET THAT I WAS IN SURGERY AND THEN START TALKING AGAIN WHILE I WAS FEELING AND HEARING TEETH CRUNCH INSIDE MY FACE.

AND AGAIN, IF YOU SMOKE CIGARETTES OR MARIJUANA, DON'T SUCK OUT THE BLOOD SLUGS. WHATEVER YOU FUCKING DO, DO NOT SUCK OUT THE BLOOD SLUGS.

Coming in, I never felt mine at all. I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled in one day, just under novicaine shots - my top wisdom teeth hadn't came in yet but my bottom ones had - all 4 teeth were out within 6 minutes and beforehand I had my sealants redone on my molars. My teeth were so easy to pull it was just crazy. Even the dentist was surprised, but I have VERY healthy teeth. I had no problem with pain other than a little swelling. They gave me hydrocodone which made me sick, so I took nothing after that first pill.

Update:

Went in today and basically they gave me anesthetics and cut away at all the gum that was infected and preventing me from properly brushing my tooth. I also got a stitch in my gum to help it heal faster. He said it looks good and I should feel better. He said my right side wisdom teeth fit properly so do not necessarily need to be pulled, and he advised that in the future the left side get pulled. So overall I am good for right now, I am leaning to getting them pulled but not till my thesis is done with and hopefully when I get my own dental insurance.
