not the worst thing in a game...but the part in Gears of War where you had to drive that tank that could either move forward or use the spot light. that shit was a bitch trying to coordinate with your co-op when to shoot or when to drive. I think i did that a 100 times (played through twice)...never could beat it on solo though.

Is Comix Zone the game when you were the guy who draws comics and you get sucked into one of them? And you could tear off bits of the area and make paper airplanes out of them? That game was fucking hard.

damn there are some old school people in here

did you have to do 100 jumps by tapping the button in Super Mario RPG? - I don't think I ever got past like 15

i did beat that super hard optional boss in that game though

I dont know about "most" frustrated, but Hunt for Red October on NES was pretty bad. I could get to the big sub on the ice level, but i don't think I ever beat it.

Police Quest 1 in general haha

Police Quest 3...I could never figure out how to get the raging drunk lunatic out of the lake. Every tactic i chose would be game over because he'd either kill me or I would do something wrong.

^ Yeah, it was basically a battle of 5 tough ass opponents vs your 3. I remember having to stock up on maple syrup like crazy and the battle took between 30 minutes to an hour, I forget.

btw. I never used gwenno or mallow, cause they sucked

^^Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time for the DS and another one for the GBA are both very similar in gameplay to Super Mario RPG. They aren't nearly as good though... they just don't feel the same. I still get that music from the lost woods (or was it Rose Town?) stuck in my head every now and then.

Reverse castle in Castlevania: SotN. Shit gets real real fast.

Oh and Ghouls-N'-Ghosts. All of it. Me and a friend tried to beat it one summer. Any time we had nothing to do we would stock up on booze and get to it. I think we got to the second to last stage once before giving up.

Spiderman 3.

There is one mission where you have to keep a Lizard mob from destroying a bomd-type thing. It took me damn near an hour to beat something that should take 5 minutes.

There were just too many lizards and no decent attacks to hit multiple enemies. Easily the hardest part of the game.

Camera controls and even combat were frustrating. I'd rather play Spiderman 2.

Yeah the thing is though that when you play as the spy and things do go your way and you properly stab someone in the back without being detected, you always feel like a total badass.

One on hard on guitar hero 3 has definitely almost resulted in me breaking my guitar several times. As others said its not failing that bothers me, its the failing at 90% or whatever every damn time and having to start the song over again.

This. Especially where the thing you are trying to protect has "gravitate toward enemy fire" AI.

Rugal.

I own a fucking Neo Geo cabinet with King of Fighters '94 and '95, and I the number of times I've beaten him since these games first premiered is less than 10. He suffers from the worst case of "SNK Overpowered Final Boss Syndrome" I've ever seen.

Another extremely overpowered fighting game boss was Shin Gouki in Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha. Because this one has priority over every single attack in the game, the only way to beat him is to eventually learn patterns to dupe the AI into doing something which leaves it mid-move so that you can sucker punch him to death. This is hands down the closest I've ever come to breaking a controller (and a big screen TV)...

there was this little shit at the arcade in the mall that played street fighter 2 turbo edition. He was 12 but nobody could beat him. Sometimes there would be up to 10 people with their quarters lined up to take a shot. He was always Guile and his technique was simple: Sonic boom, sonic boom, sonic boom. Flash kick if you jumped over it. Throw if you kept blocking it. Even if you dragon punched thru it he would wait til u landed. I got my fair share of lickings but beat him once with Vega

someone mentioned it above.

I recently got it on virtual console and it is infuriating in the later levels

I hate when enemies in sidescrollers re-appear when you move backwards and then try to go forward again. So many enemies in this game knock you back at the same time that you kill them and then when you try to go forward again they're back!
