Sidney Lowe seems confident. Around the 16:10 mark he says "hey we could bring in the top player in the country". You could take that to mean Wall or Favors, so the NCAA can't say shit about him talking about a recruit. He doesn't mention anyone by name and he could have just been talking theoretically when he's talking about highly talented players coming into the program and its effect on players accepting their roles. 10/15/2008 5:23:03 PM |

I posted the links for the other recruits on the last page. You people should definitely chant for the other recruits. This thread was created before we knew the others were coming.
They will all be sitting in a group probably. a general "we want you" to all of them may be nice. 10/15/2008 5:48:19 PM |

other schools won't do this and he'll be more impressed with their confidence" |
Quote : | "In Los Angeles, there will be no hysteria, madness or anyone particularly grateful after UCLA Coach Ben Howland gets down to the business of coaching defensive principles and USC Coach Tim Floyd starts tutoring newcomers such as DeMar DeRozan and Leonard Washington about the rigors of scoring against, say, UCLA's defense.
The Bruins will practice from 8 to 11 tonight in a locked-down Pauley Pavilion. USC will begin at 7 p.m. without TV cameras or students filling the stands at Galen Center to welcome a new basketball season.
Howland has never embraced the idea of Midnight Madness, which makes the first day of NCAA-sanctioned team practices more like a televised recruiting show than a workout. What Howland wants when practice is officially allowed is, well, practice.
"There's not much time until the first game," Howland says. "I don't want to waste a practice."
USC's Floyd had held Midnight Madness the last three years.
"We have a shortened calendar," Floyd said. "Our season opens Nov. 15 and that really doesn't give us much time to get prepared. I want to go have a real practice and not a carnival atmosphere. I guess I figure we're on TV enough, there's enough other stuff going on in our city now, we don't need it. We did it, we loved it, I just prefer to have good practices."" |

on the far right side was bishop daniels, but there were a couple people between him and favors (parents maybe). daniels is a HS soph who just joined wall/leslie's Word of God team. we offered him recently.
on the far left side was ryan harrow, and then to the left of leslie were a few guys i didn't recognize, possibly from Word of God. 10/18/2008 2:09:12 PM |

John Wall and C.J. Leslie got standing ovations when they stood up and flashed the wolfpack sign. Favors looked kinda bored but then again it was practice. 10/18/2008 2:23:08 PM |

favors looked bored until wall showed up, then he perked up a tad. he didn't give much reaction to the people chanting for him after awhile, but then someone screamed "i love you derrick" or something like that and he started laughing. 10/18/2008 2:28:50 PM |

ncWOLFsu Gottfather FTL 12586 Posts user info edit post |
nah he wasn't really that stout. looked a little leaner than levi watkins, but he's definitely bigger than leslie. not quite as beastly as hickson, but i'm sure he'd still dominate the paint if he came here. (there's a pic of favors at the top of this page)

Yeah sometimes you can't really tell how a person is physically until you see them in person. Like some girls look hot in pictures, but aren't really all that when you see them in person. Then there's girls that are much better looking in person than in pictures. 10/18/2008 2:39:21 PM |

I think they had fun, crowd really got into it when they were doing the wolfpack signs... I thought about it and wondered how I would feel if I was a player and the fans were doing that, but I think they started playing harder once the fans got into it. 10/18/2008 2:53:41 PM |

i think the players all know how important these recruits are for the program, even if some of them won't be around when they got here anyway. i suppose the practice could have been viewed as boring by the average fan, but it's a practice. and once they got to scrimmaging the crowd got more into it. favors looked fairly stoic on the sideline but leslie and wall were more animated. favors smiled/laughed at times when people were chanting at him and stuff. 10/18/2008 2:57:16 PM |

I would assume people cheered for the team as well right? If not, thats kind of sad. 10/18/2008 3:01:23 PM |
dgspencer All American 4474 Posts user info edit post |
yeah, I just over analyze everything, they only chanted for recruits during a break in action, once they were actually scrimmaging, the focus was on them. 10/18/2008 3:02:18 PM |
WolfAce All American 6458 Posts user info edit post |
It was a pretty good time, the scrimmages were fun to watch. Horner and Fells were really lighting up the 3 and Degand showed some flashes of quickness and he's definitely not afraid to go all out on that leg, but he was wearing a big brace on it still.
McCauley was hustling well enough but he was a little off with his hook, he picked it up toward the end and made some great assists. Costner looks better but he didn't get the ball all that often and his shot wasn't great.
After the scrimmages and everybody left the guys just started playing around, Costner made a half court bank shot throwing it over his head backwards, and Fells and Costner both made a few more running half court shots, but at that point the were just shooting fts and goofing around for the most part, even interacting with some of the fans.
One of the recruits had a ball and he threw it back and forth with a guy in the stands once or twice....
We looked good with some things but some things still need work, like ft shooting. 10/18/2008 3:03:03 PM |
