when every other douchebag in Raleigh, NC starts wearing Red Sox hats over the course of about three years, i'd say the bandwagon talk is justified

I was going to amend my bandwagon comment then I saw rfong's comment at the of page 1. That's pretty much exactly what I was going to say. I will keep rocking my old ass DBulls hat!

it wasn't a cliche to point out the red sox bandwagoners in 2004, it's still not cliche to point them out now in 2008

I'd be pissed too if I was a real fan of a team whose mascot was jimmy fallon

What, did their Yankees hats get too faded?

One bangwagon I can't quite seem to figure out is the Cubs. Now it isn't due to any real success but they have tons of "fans" who have never even been to Chicago. I think a lot of people like to be associated with drunken faggotry or something, so they hop on the Cubs hat frenzy.

[Edited on October 17, 2008 at 1:21 PM. Reason : p.s.- I have like a 6 year old faded Red Sox hat and some Mets hats. troll me.]

Dude be serious here, prior to 2004, there were VERY FEW Boston hats here in NC.

Since 2004, over half of "baseball" fans are wearing the blue Boston hats and other versions.

They are bandwagon as fuck. How could you say otherwise?

I came to NC State in the Fall of 2003. My very first class was some Intro. to Business Mathematics/Finance class that had about 150 students. Of those, I distinctly remember at least 8 people wearing Sox hats in that class. I recall telling my dad about it, I thought it was cool because I came to State from MA. I am sure now that there are many others now donning Red Sox stuff, but there are "real" fans in Raleigh too.

People will always hate on good teams. It's the same thing with the Cowboys, Yankees, Steelers (now talk about a bandwagon out of nowhere. I literally never saw ANY Steelers fans pre-Big Ben in Raleigh and now they are EVERYWHERE! -- at least I saw a bunch of Sox hats/shirts in Raleigh early 2000s), Red Sox etc, etc.

There are plenty of non-real Sox fans too.....many don't even know Big Papi's real name.

Most are just Braves fans that have given up on their real team.

I'm positive there are bandwagoners in Raleigh now. I'm also positive that there were plenty of "real" Sox fans in Raleigh in 2003. They played the A's in Oakland in the playoffs that year and two of the games went past bar closing time, like 14 innings. I personally hauled 6 of them in the back of my truck to my house from Sammy's at 2:30 one morning after we got kicked out.

My wife's father and step-mother live in RI and claim to be Patriot and Red Sox fans, but the only player they can name on either team is Tom Brady. They probably think Big Papi is some type of character on a childrens show.

God I knew this shit was going to happen as soon as that rally happened in game 5. The red sox will win game 7, sweep the phillies, blah blah blah win another world series, become the Yankees, suck a lot of dick, be stuck up faggots, etc... i hope i'm wrong, but i'm pretty positive this thing is already the red sox to lose

I was really never a baseball fan until my friend moved from New England in middle school. and was a Red Sox fan, went to Boston a couple of times and fell in love with the sox and fenway... that coupled with a hate for yankees fans made me a red sox fan.

in exchange for red sox fandom he's at least converted to the panthers, unless they are playing the patriots.

Screw it the Rays are gonna win the series tonight b/c they don't know any better. They're too young and inexperienced for the past performance of the Red Sox and themselves to affect the way they play... I hope.

Well my guess is the Series will break down like this

Wednesday @ Tampa (Technically St. Petersburg)
Thursday @ Tampa

Saturday @ Philadelphia
Sunday @ Philadelphia
Monday* @ Philadelphia

Wednesday* @ Tampa
Thursday* @ Tampa

*If necessary

So my guess is even if it ends in 4 the days that games are on will be repeats of shows.

Fuck off faggot

If you hate baseball so much why do you feel the need to post in every baseball thread.

I hate pro basketball but you don't see me posting in every single NBA thread. Nope. I still hold out hope for the Sox. They are down but the fat lady hasn't sung yet

You will regret the day that you wer born son. You think you can scare me, People will walk around and hit you as many times as the red sox got hit on yesterday, they will laugh at you as the great wall at fenway falls, and the bandwagon drives off!

PS. There are not 32 NBA threads for every single fucking team!

People started being Boston fans because everyone hated the Yankees. Now Red Sox Nation has gotten even more annoying than the Yankees. The worse part is, they all deny being bandwagon fans.

I always like bad teams. Atlanta's always my favorite, but I liked Detroit like 3 years ago before they started winning, TB like a while ago for drafting Hamilton and Paul Wilder, and recently because I thought they would be very good soon (althought I thought it would take another year or two) and I got my first Boston hat in 2001, and another in like 2005, but now I don't wear either because everybody does, and I don't really like Boston fans. I guess I'll have to go ahead and jump on the Royals bandwagon for 2011.

Ahaah they actually put that in the lines?

I'd put money on Hamels for Philly and Evan for TB.

I say Rays in 6....Hamels wins his two starts but Tampa kills the rest of the rotation.
