The Orphanage was pretty solid, and with it, I enjoyed Pan's Labyrinth for some creep factor.

Both are Spanish movies that have been captioned, but they're really well done and I enjoyed them both enough to purchase them.

I've met people who are seriously bothered by this to the point of not watching a movie over it - figured I'd just make it known ahead of time.

Between being distracted by subtitles, being distracted by silly dubbing, and missing out on good films, I prefer the former.

Drag Me To Hell is not well known but it's great! A lady gets cursed by a gypsy woman and all sorts of creepy shit starts happening ... one of my favorite horror movies.

Also it's rated PG-13. It doesn't rely on buckets of blood but actual suspense/terror. 92% on Rotten Tomatoes!!!

"Martyrs"

This one treads on "The Human Centipede" waters for me. I had to fast forward through the second half of it, as it got tedious and depressing to watch.

oh please don't compare those two. Part of the reason Martyrs is good is because its an endurance test for the viewer. We watched the human centipede last Halloween during a party and laughed at most of it.

^Agreed. Human Centipede mainly relies on shock factor. After you get over the actual centipede novelty it's just so ridiculous that it is funny. Martyrs on the other hand is increasingly more disturbing up until the very end. I'd say Martyrs is one of the most disturbing movies I've ever seen.

Someone mentioned this on page 1:

I don't usually like these kinds of movies, however I found it to be creepy and pretty clever the way it was done. Something you don't see a lot of in the genre.

Didn't see The Omen, I don't know if it qualifies as spooky, but the original is fantastic and has it's horror movie moments. Love the movie and Damien had like the creepiest stare. It was on AMC earlier today and one I always try to watch when on.

I still stand by my post last year, which was:
Jacob's Ladder, The Shining, both Amityville Horror (original and remake), Hellraisers, Texas Chainsaw Massacres, and Night of the Living Dead.

Others that come to mind:
The Possession of David O'Reilly
I Spit on Your Grave
Straw Dogs
The Fourth Kind creeped me out. I guess unhinging jaws does something to me.
And I liked Bereavement for gore and Insidious just because.

AMC Fear Fest has a pretty weak lineup this year so far, but at least it's different than the same ole same ole. Like showing Constantine 80 times. Even though I usually watch it at least once. I had not seen Survival of the Dead nor have I seen Diary of the Dead but, not expecting much.

Really miss AMC's MonsterFest. That was a staple every year. Glad to see TCM is doing it up right though...

Grave Encounters wasn't bad if you are into "found footage" films.

We watched "The Resident" tonight. It was OK... a little predictable and definitely creepy...but not really "scary"
