I am totally against abortion. My ex-gf at NCSU saw no problem with it. I too her to the abortion display when they came around that year. She became anti-abortion after that. She said she had no clue about how violent the procedure was.

Many women have no clue about how the procedure is done, and how violent and gruesome it is. They think it is some magic trick where they go to the doctor while pregnant, and come out not pregnant. But how it is done, and what it involves, a lot have no idea. I am sure that some women who are OK with abortion now would change their minds if they saw the pics. Especially from among those who have undergone the procedure.

When I went there in 2001, there were some pro-abortion girls there shouting at one of the display guys (including obscenities). They were obviously very disturbed by the images (perhaps they had had abortions and were feeling guilty?) because they were shouting at the guy asking him what the purpose was for having those pics. One of them even got a but physically aggressive. She was scary.

They're huge, ugly pictures designed to gross you out. And please stop trying to say that "many women" are totally clueless about what they're doing if they do get an abortion. The tone of your post is nothing but "hey, women are so dumb that they need to see this stuff to realize what's going on." Well, I keep sayng that because I read a survey several years ago which asked women if they knew what abortion entailed. It was a mixture of women, pro-choice, pro-life, and even some who had had abortions. I can't remember the percentages now, but a not-so-small percentage of them had no clue that that's what it entailed and that it was such a violent procedure (they were shown pics after they had a chance to answer).

I'm also for removing cancerous tumors. I don't, however, really want to watch those surgeries being performed or see a bunch of pictures of that. It's a bad argument. As ThePeter said: "I find surgery/medical cutting disgusting too, should I take another look at how I view that?" It's entirely possible for OKAY ACTS to be gross. Childbirth, too, certainly.

Dig it up, I'd like to read it. I do, however, think that the interpretation of the procedure as "violent" depends on the photographs shown. Lots of these shock pictures are of late-term abortions or even possibly aborted miscarriages (they use similar techniques to remove fetuses who have died inside the mother).

i support a woman's right to choose whether she has a baby or not, no matter the circumstances
that does not mean it isn't "disgusting" - it is a surgical procedure, most of them are pretty disgusting.
