They're 2.5 point favorites. Hopefully, they at least win on a game-winning field safety.

Wont happen, if we ever see a one loss team jump over an undefeated team from a BCS conference then I have to think the outlash from fans will be so bad it be insane. Although the BCS has found so many ways to fuck it up almost every year it wouldnt surprise me. With all the media hype around joe paterno and what not I cant see any way they dont put an undefeated penn state team in the game unless texas/texas tech runs the table along with alabama.

It would be another disaster if Texas and Penn state win out and Alabama loses in the SEC title game and gets boned.

Seriously, who wants to watch another big ten team get raped in the national championship game?

I'm just gonna watch Texas/Texas Tech and pretend it's the BCS title game.

Why? Lets assume that Georgia beats Florida this week and plays in the title game and beats alabama, then you have two teams who are gonna claim they are getting boned am I right? Every one loss team is always gonna claim they deserve it, but I have zero problem with it if a team goes undefeated they deserve to be in that game. Now a one loss ohio state team backing their way in last year is a whole other story.

You have to look at florida as the hottest team in the country right now.

since losing to ole miss by 1

they have beaten Arkansas, LSU and Kentucky by a combined score of 152-31

they play georgia the #6 in BCS as of today

they play a florida state team that could be top 10 in BCS when they meet

if they win out by whipping Georgia 7-1 , Vandy 5-3 , South Carolina 5-3 , Citadel 3-5 and Florida State 6-1

then destroy an unbeaten #2 in BCS Alabama team

I think they will jump an unbeaten Penn State team

Also: Penn State finishes their season November 22nd. Florida plays Florida State November 29th and then a possible SEC championship game against #2 Alabama on December 6th. The voters will have forgotten about poor ole penn state

I suppose if you hate the BCS like I do and want it to assplode then that would be a good situation. Either way though Florida lost at home to an ole miss team that is likely to finish the season unranked that alone should be enough to keep them out.

Should Hawaii have been in the National Championship last season (2 season ago?)? Bottom line is that not only has the big ten been weak the last few years, but they don't even have a championship game to make the weakass conference schedule less weak.

but the computers wont

the same thing happened last year

yeah, I don't see that happening either. Penn State running the table will put them in barring Texas and Alabama going undefeated.

I also said I was referring to undefeated teams from BCS conferences in the previous post.

ill post it again

it needs to be mandated that to be eligible for the national championship game, you have to win your conference championship game

that would force the big 10 to pick up notre dame and the pac 10 to get two other teams

then there is at least some level of sanity in this process

penn state opponents record is 31-41, they have played only 2 teams that have WINNING records

not too good of a resume

but they have beaten everyone on their weak schedule

Who would the Pac 10 pick up in that case. I think Boise State might be one of them, but that could hurt the Pac 10's basketball power. Then again the Big East added USF with no regard to their shitty basketball program. Fresno State would be one possibility. UNLV would be a good choice from a basketball standpoint, but not so much football. New Mexico has a pretty good basketball tradition. Utah would be a pretty good choice for both football and basketball.

I think Utah, Boise State, and Fresno State would be the top choices if the Pac 10 were to expand to 12. Fresno State's academics may come into play though and leave them out.

^^Yeah, there is no way that Fresno State would be added. I read earlier that not ONE player on the Fresno State football team was even offered by Cal or UCLA.

New Mexico and UNLV are shitty in comparison with the other PAC 10 schools save for ASU. I wouldn't mind seeing BYU and Utah added but don't think it would happen. BYU doesn't fit in with other PAC 10 schools as far as demographics....

As well, you have to think about other school's competitiveness in sports other than football and basketball. I don't have anything official in front of me but I'm guessing the PAC 10 has TWICE the NC's of any other conference. UCLA has 103 and Stanford and USC have over 90.

no way they make the pac10 add two schools.

and i'm sure the big10 would LOVE to have notre dame, but notre dame doesn't want the big10... at least not until they have to renew their contract w/ cbs.

I think the "winner" of the Big 10 should have to play Notre Dame for their last game..... It's not a title game of course but they could even take a bye and play in December. I posted it before..... If PSU gets into the NC game, they won't play for 47 damn days.

I have always thought if the PAC-10 added two teams they would add:

Colorado
Colorado State

Houston/Rice would go from Conference USA to big 12 to replace Colorado

Mountain West would pick up a team to replace Colorado State

^^The CSU football stadium seats about 25,000 IIRC and they play BBall in a HS gym. I would be extremely happy if that happened as I live near Boulder, but no way it would work....

well that is just asinine because what happens when ND has a down year, the big ten school just rolls them and we dont learn anything to make a good national championship game decision

what about san diego state for the pac 10 with some other school

haha SDSU is one of the worst academic schools in the nation. The PAC 10 will not be looking to add any time soon....

And even ND in a down year could put up a fight against a Big 10 team..... think of the ratings too.
