As long as its not controversial. Ragging on someone's family is not the same as making light of bj's or an obvious case of retardation (ie. bush)
If there was an equally harsh double standard being displayed i'll be all for it.

i think which comedy is "better" is, for one, subjective, but, two, in a business sense is determined by what the viewers find most entertaining. given that they are not viewed as a source of news they are in no way as responsible for being unbaised as, say for example, fox news should be, but is not.

you almost had a good point for a minute, but you really lose your position when you make poposterous statements as you did with the fried chicken and watermellon. Those would be racially motivated jokes and, yes, would be inappropriate for television since it would be making fun of people about things over which they have control (i.e. their race) but with palin they attack her inability to answer questions, and her superficially populist behavior. these two things are not the same.10/24/2008 4:52:21 PM |

I was clearly going for the 'shocking' example there.
If you want a serious example, what if I had said Obama's smoking or Biden's stumbling bumbling that Bush is so knocked for? 10/24/2008 4:55:07 PM |

i think the biden joke during the SNL debate was to call scranton the sphincter of the universe, or something. 10/24/2008 5:03:01 PM |

even you have to be able to admit that obama being a smoker being an issue was one of the most retarded attempts to decharacterize a candidate ever.
but sure, they could make jokes about them smoking, but i'm sure a lot of their viewers are smokers and would not find it as humorous as they would the other things they have done. As for biden, McCain does the same thing. He called the nation his prisoners in one speech and told Western PA he couldn't agree more that they're a bunch of racists. These items hardly, if at all, get any major play time, nor do they get represented in comedic fashion. 10/24/2008 5:03:31 PM |
