I would vote for the first person that says they will audit the government.

Ask 10 questions of every program.......

Why was this program put into action?
Is this program effective?
Is it still necessary?
Is it efficient?
How much money is it spending versus needs to spend?
Should a private enterprises be doing this instead of the government?
Have they wasted money?
Would combining this with another program save tax payers money?
What is a reasonable budget for this program?
Do people take advantage of this program and how can we minimize it?

BALANCE THE DAMN BUDGET.

Going with Obama because he seems to actually understand the importance of energy sustainability while valuing our natural habitats. Also, Petrobucks Palin churns my stomach when I think of the damage she would cause not only through her dogmatic puritanism but how easily she would sell out environmental oversight if it meant boosting corporate profits.

B/c obama is smart, charismatic, has some solid plans-- yes I agree with spreading the wealth-- and if he dies he won't leave an incompetent person to replace him.

i'm voting mccain because i fear the combination of a democratic congress and a democratic president

[Edited on October 25, 2008 at 7:44 PM. Reason : and b/c i realize that "spreading the wealth" is called socialism]

[Edited on October 25, 2008 at 7:44 PM. Reason : i'd rather have a repub pres. and dem. congress that just doesn't get shit done]

I'm a big fan. Problem is, GWB never spoke softly, or intelligently, and wore his stick out like a drunk frat boy at a sorority full of std carrying whores hopped up on roofies.

"I don't believe that this "socialist tax plan" that everyone is freaking over is actually going to be implemented in its fullest. checks and balances."
Checked and balanced by whom, praytell? Congress will be heavily Democrat and all the political momentum in the US is moving in their direction.

Quote :
"wow you are just like over half of the McCain camp that believes obama is a socialist"
Nationalizing health care is a socialistic thing to do. Then again, it was a Republican president who practically nationalized the mortgage market.

Both candidates suck. That being said, and given that Obama will win:

1) Hopefully he'll reform Social Security. It probably needs a "Nixon goes to China" moment to fix it.
2) He understands the dynamics of the changing energy market and will certainly set us off better than would McCain and push us back towards the leading edge of the next growth market.
3) I'd like to see someone who can talk about selfless service in a way that will inspire Americans to break out of their selfish little shells.

On the other hand, were he to give into the lesser demons of the Democrat party that will be running Congress, and given his oft cited sensitivity to public opinion polls:

1) He could further damage the financial state of the United States by enacting an ill-conceived and expensive health-care system.
2) A premature departure from Iraq could set up the region for an even greater crisis.
3) As a staunch believer in the Second Amendment, I see nothing but bad things coming out of a Democrat congress / Obama presidency.

The fact of the matter is, the two single greatest problems facing the United States over the next twenty years are energy and our abysmal financial state. Obama will do a better job of adapting to this than McCain would. We'll see.

With the recent stock market crap going on, I'm starting to think I like the idea of socialism. Not in an extreme, but look, what you have is people making money by making money for people who don't even need money. And not only that, they're creating money out of thin air. There's got to be a ceiling somewhere.

I'm starting to think that there needs to be a cap on the highest of salaries. These people have more money than they know what to do with...so what do they do with it? They invest it to make more money.

If there's a cap on the highest salaries, then maybe that can raise the lower salaries. You'd still make plenty of money if you work hard so not everyone is equal-- you'll still get paid according to society standards.

So then you'd choose a job that made more, if you had the brains to do it.

And like any job, you start at a certain point and go up with experience.

It takes a certain kind of person to make millions and billions and never need even half of what they have to hoard it way in selfishness. This is what is ruining our economy, greed.

But like I said, I don't know what the magic number would be.
