Elizabeth Dole makes an excellent argument for the Dems.

so then lets give it to the Dems and cry that they havent "fixed it" in a year."

so when pelosi said they were going to accomplish all those things within the first 100 hours...and they havent done shit in 2 years...how exactly do you justify that you retard?

you sure were pumped up when the democrats got a majority in both the house and senate...how much shit they were going to do...but then when they sit on their hands you blame a republican president...brilliant...you are either completely full of shit and saying whatever possible to justify congress doing approximately nothing the last 2 years...or you were too stupid to realize that there was a republican in the white house when congress got a democratic majority...i'd say probably both

I like how Pelosi herself has a concealed handgun permit but she publicly says American citizens shouldn't have that right...what a great lady

^^ What's worse- someone who excercises a right being willing to have it taken a way or someone who does not excecise the right wanting to take it away from others? I mean if she did push through a concealed weapons ban (improbable even with democratic dominance of house, senate and presidency), it would apply to her as well.

I think it's the difference between a literate person who's read a particular book wishing to ban it and an illiterate one trying to do the same to a book they've never read. I don't agree with either action, but one is slightly less disgusting.

Let me show you my post from a different thread:

Quote :
"In proposing a plan to cut the deficit, Clinton submitted a budget that would cut the deficit by $500 billion over five years by reducing $255 billion of spending and raising taxes on the wealthiest 1.2% of Americans."

That fucking Marxist! I hope the Republicans opposed that Soclialist policy!

Quote :
"Republican Congressional leaders launched an aggressive opposition against the bill, claiming that the tax increase would only make matters worse. Republicans were united in this opposition, as it were, and every Republican in both houses of Congress voted against the proposal. In fact, it took Vice President Gore's tie-breaking vote in the Senate to pass the bill."

Damn straight! Because all "spreading the wealth" around like a socialist does is hurt the eco--

Quote :
"Improved economic conditions and policies served to encourage investors in the bond market, leading to a decline in long-term interest rates. The bill contributed to dramatic decline of the budget deficit in the years following its enactment–in 1998, for the first time since 1969, the nation achieved a budget surplus. The surplus money was used to pay down the national debt, which had risen to $5.4 trillion by 1997. The economy continued to grow, and in February 2000 it broke the record for the longest uninterrupted economic expansion in U.S. history—lasting ten years. In the year 2000, the nation was on track to be debt free for the first time since 1835."

^^you can throw out all the figures you want to

the president can't really do shit without congress, with the exception of executive orders and in a time of war and the like.............fiscal conservatism led to the surplus, so you can quit giving BJ's to Clinton already

Hah

So basically you're saying

"You can point out all the truth and facts that you want to, I'm still holding my position."

Do you still not understand what happened?

The PRESIDENT submitted the budget.

The REPUBLICAN CONGRESS strongly opposed the budget.

The budget barely passed, with the Vice President having to cast the tie breaking vote.

The next 5 years were undoubtedly the best economic prosperity in a long time.

Yeah, I don't understand how you can go "The President can't do shit without congress" when that's exactly what happened in this case.

I mean, he was right that it was fiscal conservatism. It was fiscal conservatism by a Democratic president. It was taxing the wealthiest one percent and cutting spending to pay down the deficit. And it made 99% of Americans happy.

(And I bet that rich 1% were happy too, because the other 99% were happily buying homes, cars, and other products)

and if she doesnt, the House should stage a coup, and dethrone her.

if there's any time to do it, this coming January will be the time.

LOL.

and apparently you have missed me saying for the past 1-1/2 years that Pelosi and Reid are both worthless leaders and need to be replaced.

still doesnt change the fact that George W. Bush and his neocon handlers, in conjunction with a Republican majority in both houses, in SIX YEARS managed to not only squander the single largest budget surplus in american history, but also drive us into the single largest budget deficit in american history.

you can call people retards all you want, but damn man, what part of basic addition and subtraction do you not understand??

i was obviously being a tad facetious with that comment......

but, the point i'm trying to make is that everyone praises Clinton for his economic surplus, and rarely give credit to a fiscally conservative system that allowed his surplus to occur....

i'm not gonna even get started on the fact that he had a free ride through the presidency, no challenges.........
