the thing I liked about South Beach Diet is that the weight came off from the middle of your stomach. So after 2 weeks, your stomach doesn't pudge out as much as it did before.

aww where's the love

i really didn't think that someone with your weight changes size with 15lbs - for them to not fit i assume that's an implication of needing a different size that does fit...

That (the typical day) is nothing close to enough protein or fat ... or just fuel for your body. You'll seriously fuck up your organs.

1200 is like the lowest a female should go for calorie intake. 800-1000 is doing damage to your body.

Sometimes yes, and sometimes no.

I don't wear tight clothes. I refuse to. I also refuse to wear overly baggy shit. So in this case, slightly loose - 15lbs = down a size. Basically, there's a fit margin - some people have a more widely (AHA!) varying tolerance for fit, and some have a narrower range.

When I'm walking and my pants, with nothing in them, are falling down, it's time to try on some new ones, no matter how many pounds have gone.

Even though others have talked about it:

Quote :
"i've only eaten 800-1000 calories/day for 6 years"

Not only is that not healthy in most cases (could be healthy if you meet all dietary requirements, but hard very very to do with so few calories), but you also stopped losing weight BECAUSE you were eating so few calories. During times of inadequate caloric intake, our brains are programmed to think it is because of a drought, and so make it harder to lose weight.

"Use what I use
MSG!
Cheap, easy, and fills you up everytime! Even says Flavor Enhancer right on the bag!"

Leaving aside the multitude of health problems associated with MSG, how about this one:

Quote :
"In 2008, researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, working with Chinese researchers, published a study that found a positive link between MSG intake and obesity in humans."

Talk about irony!

Thats just water weight. Its unlikely you actually lost weight (weight being fat) during the first 2 weeks. It takes several days for your body to adapt to a habitual change in your diet.

that's because you're depleting your liver and muscles of glycogen and water. If you don't actually burn off the fat on your stomach by staying on the diet long enough, it will pudge right back out.

are fad diets even valid at all? i don't mean valid as in do they help you lose weight. but they aren't healthy, are they? like south beach i mean....???

there's nothing inherantly unhealthy about south beach or atkins. Some of the custom foods made by the south beach and atkins brands are absolute garbage because of the crap they are made out of, but that doesn't detract from the diet any more than sugar free ice cream makes low-fat diets a joke.

atkins and south beach are much easier diets to adhere to, which gives them a slight edge over low-fat diets for many people. The most effective diet is the one you'll stick to and be informed about.

Thats insane. Do you have a concept of what 1lb of REAL muscle is?

It is generally accepted in the bodybuilding/wrestling community that 1lb of fat loss a week is attainable after you have tapered into an appropriate diet/training cycle to support that kind of goal.

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of such program when it comes to bulking. Muscle gains are elusive, more so than fat loss in my experience.

most people with good genetics for building muscle would be lucky to put on more than 5 pounds of muscle in a year if they were consistent with their workouts and food choices.
