I love Durham, but I also really like everywhere in the triangle. If you are affraid of Durham or talk bad about it, chances are you probably haven't given it a shot. The art scene is good, restaurants are good, bars are good, it's just a fun spot that is in the middle of everything.

How can I find out about foreclosures in Cary, NC for free? I am tired of my dumbass neighbor here in Durham, this idiot is blasting his rap outside like it's his fucking birthday.

Cary is full of fucking yankee transplants that want to regulate every fucking shopping area and neighborhood. "If you are 40 years old, have 2 kids, and the highlight of your week is Sunday lunch at Applebees, then Cary is your place." "Cary is for upper-middle class yuppies that define themselves by status and laugh at their own jokes." "CARY IS GENERIC FAKE UTOPIA LAND." The best thing about Cary is being only 5-10 minutes away from Raleigh... that, and the low crime rates.

Raleigh's a'ight.

A lot of Durham is ghetto as fuck, I wouldn't want to live there.

I would rather live around nerdy white people with jobs who don't blast rap outside my door than live in the ghetto and wake up every other morning. People here are just soo damn unconsiderate and if you say some they will fuck you up since they don't have much to lose.

Well, yeah. Which is why I said I wouldn't want to live in Durham. Cary's definitely livable, just not as good as Raleigh IMO.

Before building out in Garner, my husband and I lived in Raleigh for 4 years and Cary for 2 years. We loved living in Cary and miss it. There were plenty of places to shop, eat, and drink. We pretty much lived at the Carolina Ale House. And I felt safe there.

When we lived in Raleigh, we had our house broken into and deal with a lot of college kid annoyances on the weekends. I fucking hated coming home and not being able to park at our town house because someone was having a party.

Another reason to move to CARY

Even the fucking fast foods are bad here. I ordered 2 egg and cheese biscuit at Bojangles and paid for it. 5 fucking min go by and I ask the manager what the hell is going on. He yells some girl name and sorry but it was Laqwisha. I m not lying, this bitch came out with a fucking chicken leg in her hand eating it. I was so pissed and will never go back to this location again. Whats the deal with the gloves in this town? I don't see many workers wearing gloves at fast food places here in Durham.

for Raleigh it comes down to the area you live in.

North - New money, big houses, white suburbs
Midtown - Middle class, mostly white still, older suburbs
East - Asian capital of Raleigh with cookie cutter prefabricated homes neighborhoods, shitty apartments, lots of crime, oldest suburban neighborhoods in Raleigh (Brentwood, Starmont, etc.)
West - NC State, students, and all those leaching off of cheap housing, high crime
South - A somewhat developing part of Raleigh with a mix of middle class people and higher crime mostly black area
Southeast - the shittiest part of Raleigh, period. Don't even drive through there
Downtown/Inside the beltline - ITB is all old money families and really expensive property, Downtown is yuppie style apartments (paramont, 518 west, etc.) which is the best if you work downtown and/or want to be close to the bar scene

hope this helps

It was just too funny for me to see this manager doing such a bad job at managing the restaurant. I bet his white boss who owns that place is losing a lot more customers like me. I used to work at fast food places when I was a teenager and I was busting ass soon as I get a order. Here it looks like they don't even give a shit even the manager, at least my managers used to give some free for making the customer wait. No wonder the economy all fucked up now.

Let me ask a question and I feel weird asking it so don't flame me.

I m from a diverse neighborhood but I never seen this much ghetto unprofessionalness ever and I am not used to it. How do you guys deal with ghetto idiots at places where you get some type of service? I m sure they will feel funny if you talk in their language Yo no wa am saing. I m really not a racist but I m new to south and it's kinda like cultural shock.

Here's how I put up with it: I repeat myself if they get the order wrong and thank them when our transaction is completed.

A little part of me dies inside every time I meet somebody who can't speak/can't get a simple order right. It makes me wish the education system did more to keep kids from dropping out and did more to make up for the shortcomings of their friends and family in their raising.

See, I think the opposite. It makes me glad to see that people who don't take advantage of the opportunities presented to them are relegated to shitty jobs and a horrible standard of living. I always smile when I hear people complaining about their horrible McJobs and how they can't find anything better.

I m new to the area and state. I chose Durham because I work in RTP and it's close to my work. Some days I have to be at work at 5am so it helps to stay close if it rains. I noticed people in NC can't drive for shit and if it's raining these idiots will kill themselves and take others with them. It's dangerous to drive in rain when people can't drive well.

the reason people in NC who live in RTP can't drive is because all the people that live there have moved down here from places like Michigan and Ohio and dump ass New York (not counting the city).

Plus, because it doesn't rain here often, oil tends to collect on the highway and then when it rains it becomes a problem. In areas where it never rains or rains all the time, the roads aren't as slick as they are here.

^^You chose poorly. Should have done some research and realized that there were better places to live that still afforded you a short drive to work. If there are days you have to be there at 5 AM traffic is pretty much of no consequence so pick a nice place to live and then commute while avoiding I-40 if possible.

Lol playa

I m no racist, I just don't like idiots who can't do their job or abuse their powers. For example: Customer service people don't say shit to anyone of their kind and soon as some asian walks in they all of a sudden become Harward grads asking all kinds of dumbass questions. Fast food places are worse, they need to get some decent managers who know how to control the employees so the employees don't make customers wait 10 min before preparing the order. FAST FOOD = supposed to be ready to go in max 2 min. I worked at couple of fast food places while I was in university and that was the rule 2 min or your ass do only janitor duties. I wonder how pissed the owner of the fast food restaurant is by losing some customers here and there. These days everyone just want to get paid and not have to work for it, it's ridiculous.

you're confusing NC with California here....

oh and since it's "winter" we rarely get 'snow' we get ice, and usually only ice, and no you can't drive on it even with your chained up super offroad 4 wheel drive suv behemoth. unless your vehicle has fucking ice skates you will just slide off the road and end up in a ditch to be featured on the evening news just like every other transplant that thinks we are all freaks and rednecks for not going out when it ices.

as G.O.D has pointed out to me there are nice spots and bad spots in durham, the problem is they are much more balkanized between good areas and bad areas. for instance you can drive 5 miles and go in and out of several bad and several good areas. unlike raleigh or cary where the bad areas are, for the most part, all clumped together on the east-southeast-south-southwest side (in raleigh's case)

personally i think the biggest issue in the triangle are gangs, if they were taken out completely now it would drastically cut down on their influence later.

the triangle is doomed to eventually all merge together and become a larger metropolitan area similar to boston you know. chapel hill is to cambrige as Raleigh is to Boston, or rather will be in 50 years or so. perhaps even faster as this is one of the few really good areas in the country. (we will need much better roads and such of course)

lol

Not whinning here playa but just stating what differences I notice here. Plus it's a god damned service industry they should provide quality service or should be fired from the job. If you can't do your job well flipping burgers than you are a liability for the restaurant. At least that is what my previous managers used to say and I rarely saw any customer unsatisfied. There are more professional needy responsible people out there who would love to work at fast food or somewhere to please the customers and provide good service.
