oh my god it was a 9 year old KID playing a prank. i doubt he deserved to get shocked. like you didn't play pranks when you were a kid??? love how everyone is SO superior on here. he is NINE. obviously from the point of view of a 30 year old it seems a little ridiculous. but he is 9 years old.

^^^^ Exactly, he is 9, that is like what 3rd grade. If you hadn't learned right/wrong by that age then you deserve some kind of wake-up call such as an electric shock. Now if he was 4 or 5, I could understand your point. You act like he is retarded or something.

i just don't think it is worth getting that upset about. but i'm not high strung and into morally policing everyone i see...especially kid's playing pranks since i did some of the same things when i was little.

The little brat is lucky all he got was a shock.

Should have had the little puke arrested for damage to private property.

And I'd enjoy beating the shit out of the kids dad in front of the kid to teach both of those worthlesss shits a lesson.

kid was old enough to know better. I'm betting on some type of pressure from his parents though. what fucking 9 year old cares that much about politics?

they don't hurt that bad, just make your arm feel like its vibrating. ive accidentally grabbed those things dozens of times when i was a kid at the farm, they don't hurt you.

but really, it should have made it more exciting for the kid. now he has a story to tell for a long time. its like in winter when it actually snows; if a kid hits my car with a snowball i get out and chase them some. i don't do it because i care about a snowball, but i know that by chasing them and acting like i'm mad i just made their day and gave them a story they will talk about for weeks.

Oh boo hoo hoo, it was a kid. Do they get a blank check to do whatever the fuck they want now? Exactly how far are you willing to let them go, khcadwal, before it stops becoming a prank and starts becoming a crime?

Stealing a sign = prank. OK, now what about...

stealing change?
stealing dollars?
stealing yard ornaments and decoration?
stealing toys?
stealing insulin?

When we fucked around on my neighbor's property, he came out with guns and fired them into the air. And you know what we did? We didn't run home crying to mommy and daddy, we learned not to fuck around on the neighbor's property.

i just hope that all these fuckers will pick up their signs (from exit ramps, street corners, etc.) after the elections are over. after a month it ought to be considered littering.

littering AND...

^ campaigns get fined if they aren't picked up, right?

because when i interned i had to pick up signs after the campaign. not fun

^^ no. i'm just saying i think some things are blown SLIGHTLY out of proportion. yes, it is wrong. but i'd rather save my energy and death plots for something bigger than a yard sign. like insulin. or yard gnomes.

So someone was stealing this guys signs, theft and illegal, sure, but it could also be considered a prank I guess.

So what's the guy do? Press charges? Rig landmines? Camp on his roof with a rifle?

No, he sets up a mild electric shock to anyone who touches the fence, which is, that's right, also a prank.

You think 9 year olds should be immune to being pranked back?

I think stealing a political sign carries a more serious charge in NC than a normal theft. I'm pretty sure I remember them talking about it in the last election. Of course, it's only a crime if you get caught. Oh wait...?

Bull fucking shit and you know it. His dad put him up to remove the McCain sign and put in an Obama one.

I'm voting for Obama and I think that this is a ridiculous and childish act to be stealing someone's signs. The guy has the right to advertise even for the wrong candidate.

I applaud the guy that electrified his signs 100%.

Surprised nobody has checked to see where they both live, but Shawn and Andrew are next door neighbors. So while dad wasn't in the fucking car coaching the kid, he shoulda known something was up when his kid was hauling McCain/Palin signs in and the neighbors were constantly going missing.

Also it looks like Shawn just registered in April for the first time, and didn't vote in the primaries. So its not like he's some gun toting ultra conservative itching for a fight. Hell he's registered Democrat. Mr. Nobel is a little more political as he's been voting since 96, but appears to only vote in the major elections. So again, I doubt he's getting the kid to go out and pick signs off the street, but he's still being an apologetic piece of shit for his little pussy son that he hasn't taught right from wrong. If it was mine, he'd promptly get a spanking, and be carrying the sign over and apologizing in person for being a little thief.

That video was amusing. It was an electric pet fence: No way the kid was hurt, stupid whiny father. And to the people arguing that it was a 9 year old who was playing a prank, it could have been anybody. The man wanted to catch the culprit and he did. Age shouldn't matter, stealing is wrong regardless of how old you are.

I want to know a couple of thigns:

1) Is there any evidence that the kid's dad had anything to do with this?
2) Is there any evidence that the kid stole the guy's other signs?

Both seem likely enough, but a number of people seem to be presenting them as facts and I want to know if that's warranted.

Some people think freedom of expression is important, even if you don't give a shit. Besides, the guy's an electrical engineer. I doubt it took him a lot of energy to set up this little trap, and I almost guarantee you he had fun doing it and watching the results. I think he responded perfectly in kind. If you're right, this kid started a "prank" war and then got upset when the other side participated. Fuck him.
