if you were getting ready to have a large religion founded primarily on the events surrounding your execution and supposed resurrection, wouldn't you consider the death penalty to be a necessity? 11/3/2008 6:52:56 PM |

You know what else was a necessity? People not believing in him

not believing in Jesus and not believing that he was the son of God are two different things 11/3/2008 6:56:39 PM |

He was killed because people didn't believe in him
If people thought he was god, what possible incentive could they have to off him
Lots of things Jesus disagreed with were necessary for his death/resurrection etc
you're arguing some dumb shit probably because you're a meathead with an overinflated perception of his own intelligence11/3/2008 6:57:06 PM |

funny, I've always thought of you as a person with an overinflated perception of his own intelligence, especially when the topic of religion comes up.
Considering that even you have admitted that Jesus was never quoted in the bible as referring to himself as the "son of God", then why would the Romans think that about him? 11/3/2008 7:04:43 PM |

Jesus would probably vote for the other person of color.
Also, Jesus would vote for the socialist. (He was down with taxes and big up on the poor.)
Jesus probably wouldn't vote for the soldier. 11/3/2008 8:51:26 PM |

Ok... I'm no theology major or anything, but I'm almost 100% sure that the Bible does not say this.
Also, who posted this picture of George Harrison?

Jesus was claiming religious and political shit that was bound to get him killed. He did, in fact, claim to be the Son of God (along with the Son of Man) but the idea that this is in any way directly divine/a claim of identity is something projected backwards in time from the 4th century.
These are things said of David and of the prophets -- but to claim to be a prophet is in and of itself a dangerous thing (even for the prophets). Not to mention the claim "King of the Jews" which is probably what got his ass killed more than anything.11/3/2008 9:25:24 PM |
