You can get a tuner and antenna for like $15.

I've had TWC for several years and never had to sign any kind of contract. And wtf kind of TV doesn't have a built in tuner? Every TV I've ever owned has had one.

lots of tv's are sold as "monitors" so that they don't have to have tuners.

also, twc has been pushing contracts a lot recently. they still offer non-contract deals, but it's more expensive than if you sign a contract. i just went through this when i moved. it's a pain. but i guess they're afraid of verizon etc taking some of their market share, so they want to make it hurt for people to change carriers. i was really tempted to switch to direct tv, but i just couldn't find a plan that would make it work the switch.

I have a 42" Westinghouse LCD that is advertised as a "monitor" but it is really a TV. It doesn't have a built-in tuner because not many people plug the cable directly to the TV anymore.

Dish wanted me to pony up 200 bucks for an hd box +20/month for hd programming.

i laughed all the way to radio shack and bought an antenna and a digital box.

the hd signal was much better than what i get now with twc + i had my antenna mounted on top of a shovel stuck in the ground.

was so classy i had to wrap it in christmas lights.
