i think i'm gonna get the best buy HP deal if i decide to get a full blown laptop

the core 2 duos seem to be the best procs out for laptops as well
their model number in the best buy ads is specific to that laptop and i can't find much more on it but it shows that it's a dv4 if you drop the -1114NR

i found another dv4 base model specs at http://www.amazon.com/Pavilion-DV4-1020US-Laptop-Processor-Premium/dp/B001CFCHAI

the 3mb l2 cache sealed the deal.

apple has been historically bad at their sales on bf though - like $100 off on a $1600 laptop doesn't really make it a steal

they say they're going to discount iPhones this year though so they may be making enough money to be nice this time around...we'll see.

I've had both Dell and HP laptops in the past. Both batteries died after a year (just right after your warranty ran out). Probably just my luck.

I paid pretty dear for my HP ($1900-2000) at the time. I still have the piece of sh*t. I had to replace the backlight twice, bought a new battery, and now the power jack is loose. I'm still debating whether to open it up, resoldering it myself or pay some guy $100 to fix it. I looked around on the net and many others had the same problem with the crappy backlight and the powerjack.

The bottom line is: Don't buy HP ever. I won't. Not ever again.

I'm looking around for a new laptop. My options are limited to Sony, Lenovo, and THEN Dell. Still kicking myself for not snatching up the Thinkpad R500 (C2D 2.26Mhz, 1026 FSB) for just over $650.00 a couple weeks back.

40% cashback on HP.com until 10PM tonight through Live search cashback.

It just started about an hour ago and the server is getting pounded though.

Assuming it becomes functional, I may pick up an HDX16T and ebay my Studio 15. Should AT LEAST break even.

fell in love with the hp at first sight

i tried playing with the eeePC first to see if the resolution on the screen would really bug me

i could never bring myself to like that screen so i've decided to return it. the keyboard was the other issue but i could easily get used to that keyboard - it's not that bad. it was the *x600 screen that did it for me.

i'm really happy with my HP purchase + newegg extra RAM for 4GB in the laptop instead of 3 for only $20-25. any more RAM than that was just too expensive and not worth it - i.e. to get 6gb total i would spend $250-275, and to get 8GB total (max on the laptop) i would spend near $800.

the two things i didn't like about the HP were the extra bloatware they install, which had just finished uninstalling and getting the system back to just the bare minimum without formatting, when i went to the system properties and saw they had put vista home 32-bit on here when it has a core 2 duo proc - made no sense to me so i'm installing 64bit vista right now and hopefully i can find all the drivers again

oh and i was happy to see the price go back up to $750 today!
