After watching us get lit up by another "star" player for a team, I really think Curry is going to drop 40-50 on us on Dec 6. Hopefully Fells, Costner, and Javi are all shooting lights out that game because it is obvious we cannot stop a good/great player and curry is better than great right now.

holding him to 30 will be a victory for state (not a literal victory, but the state vs. curry battle)

VA Tech might have tried i think

i dunno, some guys at work know Dell from high school and they told me the whole deal with why he went to Davidson, but i forgot what it was

i think VA Tech told him he would make the team but he would never get any minutes

i was watching his brother play a couple weeks ago, he's built a little bigger but he just doesn't have the scoring instincts like stephen does

Va Tech offered to have him walk-on, so he took the scholly from Davidson.

^^ why pay to go to vatech when you can go to davidson for free? unless he wants to be an engineer, that is.

but in terms of basketball prominence, Va Tech isn't the type of school to sit the bench at, I would pick more playing time.

davidson is definitely the better school if you actually plan to pursue a degree. and carrying an average at best team on your shoulders through the ncaa tournament always looks good for your draft prospects

How long before we start a Seth Curry watch?

Scored 26 in upset win over UVA tonight.

Another player the ACC missed out on.

If the dude went to Liberty, he probably wouldn't have fit in to the ACC... I mean girls have sex there and some where skirts.

It must have been a concious effort, since he could score 20 in his sleep

loyola coach seemed to be quite the dick about it too. He had them double team curry right down till the clock hit 0.00. I'm glad their asses got wore out. Thats just cheap basketball. His quote?

"If Oklahoma can't stop him, how is Loyola MD going to?"
"Are they going to remember that we lost by 30,or that we held curry scoreless?"

Gee coach, way to have faith in your team......loser. Oh yeah, he was an assistant at Maryland under the "great" gary williams for a few years.

He stood in the corner of the court and let them double team him, so davidson played 4 on 3 the whole game on offense

it's pretty stupid

double him when he's in a position to score, not the whole time

that's how you lose by 30

I am not sure how long ago or at what level of basketball, but I swear I have seen a technical foul called for double teaming someone when they didn't have the ball.

^^Yeah, almost as dumb as double teaming a guy the whole time and still losing by 30. I think it was a complete dick move to do it the whole time. When its apparent you're still getting your ass handed to you then you should be adjusting to try and actually win the game. Just trying to stop some kid from scoring and making some moral victory out of it is a complete bitch move.

My post from earlier in this thread:

Why the fuck can't we ever even remotely slow down the other team's #1 player? It seems like year after year, players have career games on us.

Well Oklahoma couldn't stop him either and Curry dropped 44 on them too. That is a record for most points by a non-BCS player against a BCS team.

it might sound kind of counterintuitive, but allowing him to score 44 points was almost still enough for us to win...i went to the game and our main problem IMO was not husting, not rebounding, not boxing out...if Curry scores all over us, i think thats ok, because thats what he does...but when their scrub players are getting easy rebounds and putbacks...when our team gives them an open layup, and then gives up, and they miss the layup and some short white dude gets the board, thats a lack of hustle and a lack of playing hard by us

i cant take anything away from Curry, but his 44 werent enough to beat us alone (although that 30-foot three was pretty crucial)...davidson shouldnt have been in that position and wouldnt have been if we wouldve prevented their other guys from getting bullshit points and rebounds

^exactly. Curry's scoring was not the problem. Problem was the rest of the team getting rebounds and putbacks. If we actually played like we were bigger and stronger than them, we get the rebounds and we win the game.

Even rivals appreciate Curry

Time Warner Arena in Charlotte was packed and there was a buzz in the air. LeBron James, perhaps the best player on the planet, was in the house, but he wasn't playing. James, like everybody else was there to see scoring machine Stephen Curry, and Curry did not let the crowd or his team down. He was simply dazzling, scoring a career-high 44-points in another victory over a traditional power from a major conference.

The victim this time was N.C. State. The Wolfpack knew all about Curry coming in - who doesn't, right? Last season Curry missed a shot from half court at the buzzer to win in Raleigh. This season no desperation shot was needed - well, sort of. He showed the Pack his full arsenal again scoring on runners, three-pointers, and pull-up jumpers. The moment to remember was late in the second half with Davidson clinging to a one-point lead, and an airball got tipped outside to Curry about 35 feet from the basket. The shot clock was about to expire and without hesitation he launched a rainbow that of course hit nothing but net to seal the victory.

The shot was followed by a long, smiling stare at James who was out of his seat and onto the court with both hands raised in the air. Great players make those kind of shots in those kind of moments, and it was cool to watch LeBron look amazed at what Curry was doing on the court.

This is becoming routine for Curry. Last year I sat in the RBC Center on press row and watched one of the most amazing comebacks I've ever witnessed as he exploded in the second half on second-seeded Georgetown, leading Davidson back from 17 down to advance to the Sweet 16. It was quite a scene. As the comeback unfolded all the fans from the three other teams stood and cheered as he shot down the much more talented Hoyas.

Curry became the darling of March madness, and came within a last second shot of knocking off Kansas and going to the Final Four.

This season he has picked right up where he left off. Having already dropped 44 on Oklahoma in a close loss, he tied that total in Saturday's win over the Wolfpack. No knock on State - the Wolfpack played a great game but couldn't stop the kid.

Heck, nobody does. He never seems to disappoint and leaves crowds in awe wanting to see more. He is a showman, but he's not flashy. His game is solid and he's confident, but not cocky. He is my definition of greatness, and that is that everybody knows what he's gonna do: the crowd knows, he knows, the other team knows, but nobody can stop him.

There have been some remarkable scorers and players in recent years like J.J. Redick of Duke, but the difference between Redick and Curry is that Redick was hated in every arena he went. Curry doesn't incite those feelings. People truly enjoy watching him play and they want to see just what he can do next. You get the feeling that deep down, the opposing fans appreciate him. He's the skinny guy, the underdog.

He's what every kid that ever picked up a ball in the back yard wanted to be. We all dreamed of being the guy with no conscience hitting clutch shots with guys draped all over us. We all wish we could forget about the six shots in a row we just missed and nail the game winner. There is a unique sound and feeling when he has the ball in his hands. It's like the anticipation of a band about to play your favorite song.

In an era where athletes seem to only care about themselves and getting paid, Stephen Curry is a bright star that turned down millions to come back to school and play for a David in a world of Goliaths. It's only December, but Curry is already playing like it's March. If you haven't had the chance to watch him work his magic, I suggest you do. Even if he pulls off the upset and beats your team, you'll still appreciate him.
