oh god. I haven't looked at this thread in a while.

Tool is incredible. an acquired taste, but still incredible.

their being mentioned in a coldplay thread saddens me. a lot.

lolz. I can understand if you don't like them but they are an extremely musically talented band.

to call them "extremely musically talented" is an understatement

i don't really hate tool

but that man-angst kind of rock just doesn't do it for me

and when it did (when i was 15), i was listening to nirvana and pixies, and tool just isn't tuneful enough

great musicians, yes, but as i've said in a million other threads, great musicianship doesn't really mean much to me on its own

i felt the same way about Tool for a while, but then saw them live a thetually listened to all their albums, and now I think they're amazing.

I don't blame anyone for not liking them, there are plenty of bands that everyone seems to like that I still despise despite giving them a chance, but it took me a while to get into Tool.

i dont consider myself a tool fan by any means

however, i ended up going with a buddy to the last Tool show in Winston-Salem, and I must say it was fucking awesome as all hell.

i hope that my comment is relevant to your interests.

from what i was told tool is specifically for people that do psychedelics

like its not supposed to sound good unless you are tripping

huge negative.

and also imo ANY music that is not "supposed" to sound good unless you are tripping is probably pretty terrible musically.

i certainly wouldn't choose Tool to listen to while tripping.

unfortunately chris cornell continued to make music after euphoria morning. that's a great album, but he really really fell off after he joined audioslave. at least matt cameron has done some good stuff with pearl jam and the wellwater conspiracy.

sorry i didn't mean to derail this from the tool discussion

They should have quit earlier. Now Joe Satriani is going to take all of their money.

The lawsuit has no merit, since it relies on the premise that someone actually listened to a Joe Satriani album.
