No.

And you would have been better off with my 1985 Accord 2 door that I sold back in '99 to someone for $800. Only thing wrong with it was broken AC and a cracked windshield.

^I don't know about that. Any car from the 90's is better than any car from the 80's when it comes to crash worthiness. I've never understood why ragged out hondas sell as high as they do.

^^The prices at dealer auctions would blow a lot of people's mind. The only thing close for the general public is the NC Surplus auction out past the fairgrounds. Your car probably came from somewhere similar. http://www.doa.state.nc.us/ssp/

$2200 isn't great, but you could have done worse. These go for $1000-$1700 at the NC surplus auction, lower at a dealer auction. Just take this as a lesson about dealers, they're all crooks. In the long run, a few hundred bucks isn't a terrible price for a lesson learned.

And look on the bright side, you might be about to learn plenty more automotive lessons in the year to come! Sure beats walking, though.

I used to work at the state surplus agency in Raleigh. The state gets rid of its cars for a reason.

The only consistently good cars I saw were 1) NCSHP patrol cars that belonged to desk troopers, 2) ALE cars 3) SBI cars. Mostly because these people drove from point A to point B and did their business without their cars running. Former cop cars are usually ragged out pretty bad. DMV cars aren't much better off since usually ALL their mileage is stop and go.

Getting it looked at AFTER the purchase doesn't make a whole lot of sense either.

The State Surplus website is here: http://www.doa.state.nc.us/ssp/

Bid sheets can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/6bae99

At the top of the second screen, you can select the locations you want to find information on.

If you have any questions about stuff going on at the Raleigh store, PM me. I still know people who work there and I can find out answers if I don't know them off-hand. I don't know and won't ask about specifics on individual items.
