The Heisman Memorial Trophy will be renamed the Wilson Memorial Trophy after he wins it. A new sculpture in the mold of Russell will adorn the trophy.
Also thanks for fulfilling my request to photoshop him as the Heisman Trophy

I don't see the problem with bitching about Nate Irving not being at least 2nd team all ACC. Brandon Tate got honorable mention and played 2 conference games for fucks sake.
We are 6-2 with Nate in the lineup. 1 of the 2 was Russell's start at USC, the game which he didn't play past the first quarter. Game 2 of 2 was Russell's start at clemson, effectively his first full start, coming off a concussion from the SC game.
I don't know if Nate is the best LB in the ACC, but he's damn close, and I know there aren't 6 linebackers better than him. 12/1/2008 11:54:31 PM |

Looks like every acc team is bitching about their guys not getting on. Duke is bitching about Thad Lewis not being ahead of wilson.
Guess they didn't see duke's awful third down conversion rate -- the area where Wilson is baller.

It's pretty amazing at how similar Russell's pose and the Heisman trophy pose are. I only tweaked the right leg a little to get it too fit.

A day after being named first-team All-ACC, NC State freshman quarterback Russell Wilson picked up two more awards as he was named ACC Rookie of the Year and ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year. The ACC awards are released by the AP and voted on by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.
Wilson won both awards by garnering 62 of the possible 67 votes.
The 5'11, 191-pounder led the ACC in points responsible for (12.40 per game), passing eficiency (134.3), total offense (211.10), and touchdown passes (16). He has thrown only one interception all season, fewest among all FBS quarterbacks ranked in the NCAA passing categories and set a school record by attempting 226 consecutive passes without an interception, an active-streak tha leads the country.
“Russell has had a remarkable year and we couldn’t be any prouder of him for what he has accomplished for himself and for our football team,” head coach Tom O’Brien said in a released statement after Wilson was named All-ACC. “This honor is a testament to how he came back from injuries twice this season and has become such a great leader at such a young age. He has not only been efficient in handling the duties of a quarterback, but has leadership skills that our team believes in and it’s evident as soon as he walks into the huddle. He is very deserving of this honor, not only because of the statistics that he’s posted, but because of the type of young man that he is.”

^ yeah all these awards make me worry. Seems like lots of recognition and awards jinxes a lot of players.
I have noticed in the past few years almost every Heisman trophy winner has a bad game or has a good game but still loses.
2003 Jason White lost to LSU in NC 2004 Matt Leinart Won vs Oklahoma in NC (exception) 2005 Reggie Bush lost to Texas in NC 2006 Troy Smith lost to Florida in NC 2007 Tim Tebow lost to Michigan in bowl game
Actually all five of the players who were Heisman finalists last year either lost or played horrible in their bowl games iirc. 12/2/2008 9:17:25 PM |

Nah I think recognition is great. RW deserves all the awards he has received. He is without a doubt the best QB in the conference this year.
I am just stating an observation. I hope that the trend does not apply to RW. 12/2/2008 9:35:08 PM |

ROY before TA = PRiv
ROY before PRiv= KRob
ROY before KRob = RayRob
only one of those ended up disapointing and that was partly b/c Rayrob had offensive coordinators that only liked to use him on 3rd and long for some reason12/2/2008 9:47:15 PM |

My COY standings would have looked like this: 1) PJ 2) Cutcliffe (he made Duke a competitive team, I mean c'mon it's freaking Duke!) 3) Jags (no one expected him to repeat as Atlantic champs, even though it wasn't all that impressive since BC really didn't dominate throughout the year; but they won when they needed to) 4) TOB (all the injuries and the 0-4 start and to be able to become the first team to be able to finish 4-4 after that kind of start is impressive) 5) Beamer (really depleted team and still won the Coastal, which I didn't think they would do despite everyone picking them. i thought everyone picked them b/c everyone else was so unknown. they didn't win it in impressive fashion, but like BC they won when they needed to) 6) then finally Davis

Ok I'm hearing talk about Russell Wilson possibly being the ACC POY, but I don't think it will happen b/c he's a RS-Fr and the voters have a bias against freshmen. I think they'll end up giving it to Jonathan Dwyer.
So let's make a case for why Wilson should be the ACC's POY. Let's see some statistics. 12/3/2008 8:25:15 AM |
