exactly. he plays a great over-the-top actor that it's become his thing. bad actors like keanu reeves try to play serious roles but end up making them all bill & ted. if he just played "whoa" roles, i might respect him.

Actors who can't act in the sense that they play the same role over and over again or simply play themselves is one thing. Who are the famous people who genuinely need to stay the fuck off of the screen?

My vote goes out to Keanu Reeves. He's more wooden than a carpenter's workshop.

his 'expression' as you call it is only similar in the first two

and fortunately, movies are not static jpgs

they are moving video with audio, and in all three of those performances he is a completely different person

^^ I really hope you're kidding.

John Travolta hasn't done anything good in forever.

Clive Owen

You have a low voice. You're an extreme badass thief/warrior/action hero. You deliver grim lines in dark style. We get.

Cage is a good actor, he just takes every movie, no matter how shitty apparently.

Clive Owen is a good actor too, come on. Closer.

PSH being in this thread is laughable.

I figured Shia Lebeouf would be in here somewhere by now. I thought he was pretty crappy in the new Indy movie or maybe it was just the whole movie that sucked.

Nicholas Cage is absolute shit.

except as HI McDonough.

I'd like to add Al Pacino, EXCEPT for in Scent of a Woman, and Carlito's Way.

have you not seen Scarface?

because outside the "OMG he's italian, not cuba" and the annoying pretend gangsters who DO NOT get the fucking point of the movie

it's a pretty kick ass film and Pacino does an excellent job

Watch Godfather 1 & 2, then watch Scarface.

The fact that that's the same human being is proof of how great an actor Al Pacino is at his best.

[Edited on December 11, 2008 at 9:43 AM. Reason : I'll also add that this thread starts and ends with Keanu, the best godawful actor of our time]

Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon...and someone already mentioned Godfather I and II.

He did fairly well in Heat and Donnie Brasco too.
