Because they're still stuck in that fucking line... just look at the student entrance gate. Someone really needs to fix that shit.

Nice.

Hey anyone watching the college football awards. NC State's Marc Primanti, the 1996 Lou Groza Award winner, was just on there to present the award to FSU's Graham Gano.

Those 70 people would fill up the rest of the student section.

(and I think I included a lot of cops and trashcans in that count)

^^^, ^^That's a great BG pic, but I'm scared to change mine yet. It's been the "red means go" picture of the red-paint splattered "welcome to chapel hill" sign since the week before the UNC game. I'm way to superstitious to change it until after the bowl game. Plus it's great when I "accidentally" show my desktop during a presentation or a meeting or something like that and here the "it's basketball season" moans and groans.

Game program from 1966, the year C-F opened. This is a cool concept with the players' jersey numbers making out the year and coach Earle Edwards looking on. A new version would be cool.

nah then it will be a short offseason because i won't be checking this thread every five minutes out of excitement for every bit of info or discussion

i had no expectations for this bball season and come november couldn't believe it was time for bbal already. it was a pleasant surprise.

its basketball season?

It takes me a while to warm up to bball season. I usually wait till after bowl games to give it any attention.

i think eugene and young are just curious as to where they would be drafted at this point in time and what they need to work on. i'm not worried about them. irving is a monster but i think he still has a lot to prove to the scouts if he wants to go on the first day of the draft. i think all three come back.

Here's the TOB quote on Eugene and Young:

"I'll tell you, it's [Willie] Young and [Jamelle] Eugene are the only two... of which neither at this point has any intention to leave, but they want to know."

Columbia Police reported that an individual attempted to "egg" Coach Steve Spurrier’s home last night.

The report stated:
An empty egg carton was recovered at the scene. Two eggs hit the Coach’s house, 3 eggs went over his house and hit his neighbor's back door, 2 eggs hit the houses of each of his next door neighbors, and the remaining 3 eggs were found broken on the ground near the carton.

Looking at what was hit; police officials say they are considering quarterback Chris Smelley as the primary suspect.

Hakeem Nicks is gone. Nicks will forgo his senior season and enter the NFL draft early. Now Butch needs just 12 more players to declare early.

233 days left. God I hope the basketball team improves, b/c if they don't it's going to be a long wait to football season.

Today on Jim Rome is Burning they were debating on whether Tim Tebow's display of his religion was too overt. What the hell? I'm not a real religious person or anything, but I have no problem with the guy saying God bless and thanking God after a game. I hate how everyone hypes him up, but to me he seems like a good guy and is sincere in what he says. Tebow thanking God after a game is a lot more respectable than some rapper thanking God after receiving a Grammy for his album that is filled with lewd, violent, and disrespectful stuff (I'm not bashing rap and actually like rap, but you understand what I'm saying).

http://obsfifty.blogspot.com/2009/01/qb-smelley-to-leave-south-carolina.html

Quote :
"QB Smelley to leave South Carolina

Chris Smelley, South Carolina's starting quarterback for much of the past season, has been granted his release by the school and will transfer, according to the school's athletic website.

Smelley said in a statement that he hopes to play baseball elsewhere.

"I'm going to play baseball at another school that I'm still deciding on," Smelley said. "I talked to (South Carolina) coach (Ray) Tanner about playing baseball here. I have great respect for him. Under different circumstances I would have loved to have had the chance to play for him. He's a great coach, but I decided it was best for me to have a change of scenery and move on elsewhere."

Smelley recently completed his sophomore season, passing for 1,922 yards and 14 touchdowns in 12 games. He is from Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Brad Smelley, his younger brother, was a freshman tight end at Alabama this season.

With redshirt junior Tommy Beecher of Concord also leaving the program, that means Stephen Garcia, who will be a redshirt sophomore in the fall, is the only remaining experienced quarterback.

This season, freshmen quarterbacks Reid McCollum and Aramis Hillary redshirted. Rock Hill South Pointe quarterback Stephon Gilmore, The Observer's No. 3 college prospect in South Carolina, will likely play defense but could get a shot under center."

We have 8 home games next season, b/c ECU bailed on us and we had to get a second FCS team at the last minute. I think the fact that we have games against South Carolina and Pitt though will offset us having two FCS teams on the schedule some. A fair amount of schools only schedule one BCS OOC opponent. SC played 3 BCS OOC opponents last year. @ UVA, tOSU, and ND. You can say that two of those three aren't very good, but they didn't know that those teams would suck when they scheduled them. It takes a lot of balls to schedule 3 BCS OOC opponents.

Here's a good write-up on our offensive scout team: http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/2/833620.html

I'm pretty excited to see what that O-Line, Barnes and Glennon will bring this coming year.
