$120 for 2 cats isnt bad.
dont be pissed that you're actually obeying the law
either way. you might as well put them on than risk a fine or penalty later on. 12/18/2008 3:16:28 PM |

I'm pissed because the boyfriend told me the car just needed a transmission coolant line, I didn't really want to buy the mofo but it was a hell of a deal. Then a couple weeks ago (after I bought it, before I brought it home) he tells me it doesn't have cats (he knew this the whole time, it was his friend's car and he knew the old ones had been thrown away). Ah well, should be good now. 12/19/2008 1:07:00 PM |

I think the cats ended up being about $65 each, so $130 and the boyfriend decided to be lazy and pay a shop $50 to weld them in, but I doubt he was actually going to get around to buying the Christmas present I said I wanted so this works too.
He gets some level of pro discount at the local parts shop there. You do not want to know how much he's spent on random crap and paint at that place. I do not wanna know how much he's spent, but he is gonna be in trouble if I get up there and find a SATA jet (he's already got the $300 minijet, now he wants the $500 full size too). 12/19/2008 1:45:04 PM |

^^you should tell your boyfriend that catalytic converters are bolted on, not welded. 1/3/2009 1:54:24 PM |

^ not always. the universal ones are weld-in (and a helluva lot cheaper, too) 1/3/2009 2:25:10 PM |

^^ fail. What Duke said, got some universal ones welded on. Could have gotten some that'll clamp on, but this way no chance of leakage. 1/6/2009 12:04:37 PM |

i, too, have welded an exhaust system 1/6/2009 12:17:41 PM |

I never claimed to have done any welding.
If I could weld, then I'd only need men for one thing, and even that can be replaced. 1/6/2009 1:17:05 PM |

My car seems to work better with them. Only thing wrong now is a couple sensors in the damn automatic need replacing, and maybe switch back to the stock springs (previous owner put in a shift kit, when in overdrive sometime it'll lock in 4th as best as we can tell). 1/7/2009 8:17:02 AM |

^^ for shits and giggles I cranked it and revved it a few times while the cat was off and the exhaust was dumping under the driver's seat
one of the yard cats was chillin' on the porch when I cranked it, kitty started lookin' lively when it turned over and fucking bounced when I revved it
I don't think I'd make it very far without getting some kind of noise violation like that, but I kinda want to put a bypass in there now
someone mentioned a spring-loaded cutout, but I'm thinking electric, something like dis
except that's 700$ and I'm pretty sure that's a fucking ripoff, thoughts?
