agreed, i think the biggest complaint that I can see is that UNC hired someone with questionable qualifications was hired and there is the perception of underhanded hiring b/c its hansblow's mom

Sure, UConn's players have gotten in to some legal trouble. Though, I'm glad Price got another chance, he seems like a good kid who made a stupid mistake (fuck Marcus Williams though -- piece of shit)... but can you name me one time UConn has been the center of any sort of NCAA investigation save a kid getting a free plane ticket from a buddy on campus (Kirk King -- look it up).

I don't see what the big deal is, other than it being an incredibly smart hire. It's not like the university is helping out the sports program under the table. Instead, the success of Hansbrough with the basketball program will most likely bring in more donations to the dental program. That ought to be the purpose of collegiate athletics in the first place.

I hate tyler like the rest of you but come the hell on, she is qualified for the position. She TOOK the job his last season so he won't even be in chapel hill anymore. Conspiracy of what? She and the family will be there while he is in the NBA. How about you guys get up in arms about something real like how the governors wife doubled her salary at OUR UNIVERSITY with no reasoning seemingly behind it.

While I pretty much think this is a non-issue, I'm not naive enough to think some Blue Chips like stuff could not have happened. Hansbrough could have said "coach, I'd like to stay for one more year, but my mom would like to be able to see all my games," and Roy say "don't worry Tyler we'll work something out for her." The world of college athletics is routinely a sleazy place even in "Blue Heaven".

That is my biggest gripe with UNC fans... they really do think that they are somehow different than every other school in the country when it comes to this type of thing... the reality is that, while they aren't as sleazy as a school like Southern Cal in ALL major sports, they aren't Harvard either...

Well I was thinking more like they contacted her about her credentials, then created a job at the dental school that would fit them so that the hire would look legit. Then they put the job up on the website. Interviewed some real candidates and her, with no intentions of hiring the other people. She accepts the job, but then has to shop for a house and sale her house in Missouri (she is separated from Tyler's father). It can take awhile to sale a house. Then she prepares everything to be moved to Chapel Hill.

It's easy to see how the entire process could take a few months.

i used to work with Tudor and worked with him for 2.5 years when i worked in the Sports Dept. of the NandO

i used to sit at his and chip's desk. i like tudor and have nothing against him. i think he is a hell of a guy and if i had a choice to shoot tudor or ernie in the face...i'd pick ernie in a heartbeat.
