BC the way things are going she will be the next president. jk, sorry I couldnt resist.

Seriously,

"How is she even under consideration? Her sole qualification is her last name. She has a law degree, but has never practiced, and she hosts a charity dinner, and .... that's it. Of course the media is jacking themselves off because her last name is Kennedy. "

That sums up my opinion on this issue.

BTW--since I'm sure you don't know this--Caroline Kennedy recently hosted the annual Kennedy Center Honors, which honored the likes of Barbara Streisand, Morgan Freeman, George Jones, choreographer Twyla Tharp, and Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey of the Who. Kennedy took over the hosting duties five years ago from Walter Cronkite.

The Kennedy Center and none of these people matter, right?

You know, I was thinking when I read this, that she sounds exactly like Elizabeth Dole (except for the offspring part). And the voters of NC actually elected her.

Well, there you go. Case closed. Kennedy for Senate.

The people you listed are famous, anyway. But the Kennedy Center Honors aren't exactly relevant to our lives. The whole thing is basically a high-end awards program. I don't know who hosts the Golden Globes, either.

Caroline Kennedy 'likely:' AP sources

Quote :
"Sources in Albany are telling the Associated Press that Caroline Kennedy will probably be the governor's pick to replace Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York."

N.Y. Assembly Leader Says He'll Support Kennedy

Quote :
"ALBANY, N.Y. — - State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, who has expressed reservations about Caroline Kennedy as a U.S. Senate choice, now says he'll support her if Gov. David Paterson picks her for the seat being vacated by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Democrat Silver, the longest-serving and most powerful legislative leader in the state, told the New York Post that he's rethinking his views on Kennedy because he thinks Paterson will soon pick her to replace Clinton, President-elect Barack Obama's choice as secretary of state.

In Thursday's editions, the Post quotes Silver as saying he's now more favorably inclined toward Kennedy and that he'll 'work strenuously for her election' if she's Paterson's choice.

'I have determined there's a good possibility she will be the appointee of the governor,' Silver told the Post."

Why does this matter? Why did it matter when Hillary Clinton was in the position at issue? Why does anything matter?

We don't have to vote for Kennedy though, it really doesn't benefit us in any way to mock her (at least i don't see any benefit).

Because she wasn't attempting to become second in line to the presidency.

I'd mock her if she were more relevant, but unless it's threatening the stability of our nation I don't really consider absolute dolts to be worth my time.

Um. . . Hillary Clinton almost became president from her perch in one of New York's Senate seats. And the Kennedy name is much more widely known than the Clinton name.

And some of you do know that New York is often referred to as the world's capital city, right? Of course you don't--this doesn't matter either, does it?

BTW, don't worry, Woodfool, I'll be back to BBQ your ass et al in the "Millennials" thread soon enough. There are only so many hours in the day.

Your points are beginning to resemble a game of "Six Degrees of Separation".

I don't think Kennedy belongs anywhere remotely close to a position of power, but the same could be said for... probably 90% or more of our nation's elected officials.

Seriously? If you're looking at the Millennials age group to determine the name recognition between Kennedy and Clinton and you think Kennedy would be more recognizable, I think you're sorely mistaken. Clinton has been in the news practically every day from 1992-2008, why would you think Millennials would know Kennedy over Clinton?

There is all sorts of misinformation in just that one post. Yes she almost became president from that post but that was attributed to her high profile she had prior to and following the ownership of that senate seat. The prior fame cannot be said for Caroline and the fame to come cannot yet be predicted. She may matter one day but she doesn't really matter now.

furthermore the kennedy name is well known as a US political dynasty but until recent caroline's name has never been highlighted within that group. You're kidding yourself if you think more people 65 and younger would recognize the kennedy name more than the clinton one. If you think more people would know caroline kennedy than hillary clinton then you are entirely removed from reality.

I'm going to assume that your reference to New York was attributed to NYC which is call the 'capital of the world', but even given that I don't know why you would take the effort to mention that since her work would be divided between washington DC and Albany, NY.

Kennedy Cites 'Personal Reasons' For Ending Senate Bid

Quote :
"ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Caroline Kennedy has ended her quest for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Hillary Rodham Clinton, halting a campaign that began with popular support but withered quickly over criticism about her experience and her reluctance to answer questions about her finances.

Kennedy made the announcement in a terse statement released early Thursday, ending hours of uncertainty surrounding her intentions as she appeared to waver in her decision to seek the office.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah......
"

It appears that some woman named Kennedy, who I have certainly never heard of before, ended her inconsequential bid for some Senate seat, in...New York? (Hmmm I will have to do some research on this "New York" place...)

Why can't you all just let hooksaw cling to the icons of his youth in peace? There will probably be one day when we're old and someone named Chelsea Clinton makes the news, and we try to explain desperately to some young whippersnappers how important she is. It'll happen. Someday.

1. You are an idiot.

2. Liberal Boomers are the ones who are pining away for Camelot II. I am neither a Boomer nor a liberal.

3. This may be the real reason Kennedy dropped out--an alleged affair involving her and the publisher of The New York Times:

Are Caroline Kennedy and Pinch Sulzberger [aka 'Pinchy McSaltburger'] "VERY SPECIAL FRIENDS?"

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2152397/posts

And I have two on this:

1. A Kennedy having an alleged affair? NO WAY!!!1

2. The New York Times doesn't just love the Kennedys--it loves the Kennedys (allegedly).

Sweet Jesus--what a freakin' fiasco.
