Pro v. College Analogies:
My senior design project in Water Resources Engineering would get laughed at and drop kicked if submitted to a real PE in real life. And I think my group got a B.
I made an A in fiction writing. I have zero published short stories, though my zombie-fever-dream panic story made some friends laugh.
I made a B in History of Modern Mexico. I wrote a twenty-page paper on the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo. It, too, remains unpublished.
I made a B in History of the English Language. No calls yet from Noam Chomsky.
... keep going?
(ps could 11 college Philip Riverses compete against 11 pro Philip Riverses?)
((ps answer duh cause the pro ones have Norv)) 12/29/2008 9:43:43 AM |

Quote : | "I almost wish the Lions would play the BCS winner just to prove to you guys that you are idiots." |
you guys?
how many people in this thread have actually said the lions would lose?
Quote : | "back in the day the Super Bowl Champs played the BCS Champs (or whatever they called them back then) and the BCS Champs beat them a bunch of times." |
and we doubt you so you post
Quote : | "The charitable contest, played during the preseason in either July or August, pitted the defending NFL champion against a group of standout collegiate players." |
and
Quote : | "The Packers actually lost their first contest, in 1937, when Slingin' Sammy Baugh and the collegians shut out Green Bay, 6-0." |
as woodfoot said, "standout college players =/= 'BCS Champs (or whatever they called them back then)'" also, "The Packers actually lost their first contest, in 1937" =/= "beat them a bunch of times"
1937 is hardly comparable too the modern era.12/29/2008 1:36:53 PM |

I think its more likely in football than basketball. After all if you are a pro talented basketball player you usually skip college ball all together.12/29/2008 10:21:57 PM |
