Ive gotten two responses in regards to tailgating. The plan is to leave raleigh friday night after work and head to charlotte. My buddy stays in the university area so i will stay with him for free that night. Sleep until about 1030 and then head uptown. Got the westin for saturday night so i can just walk back from the bars that night. Anyways ill check in and then bring my suv out to start tailgating around 2. Who is down for any of this? Of course after the game down to the epicenter bars. I hope everyone remembers to wear black and everyone get drunk and stay drunk!

The Panthers will wear BLACK jerseys Saturday night against Arizona. Jackie Miles, the team's equipment manager since their inception, notes its the first time Carolina has ever worn black for a playoff game.

Carolina generally wears white on the road. Its previous two home playoff games were against the Dallas Cowboys, and then the Panthers purposely wore white so as to make the Cowboys wear their "unlucky" blue jerseys. (It worked both times).

Bank of America Stadium will be a rolling sea of white, however, as a white Growl Towel about the size of a golf towel will be given away to everyone who comes through the turnstile. "Those towels really seem to show up better at night," said Phil Youtsey, the Panthers' ticket guru.

The Panthers are gently encouraging fans to wear black to match the team's jerseys and to contrast with the Growl Towels a bit better.

Arizona at Carolina
Saturday, January 10, 8:15 PM EST
Bank of America Stadium

Preview

The NFC Divisional Playoff at Bank of America Stadium on Saturday at 8:15 p.m. ET between the NFC South Champion Carolina Panthers (12-4) and NFC West Champion Arizona Cardinals (10-7) is a rematch of an exciting regular season game. In that contest, the Panthers came back from a 17-3 third-quarter deficit to defeat the Cardinals, 27-23, on October 26 in Charlotte.

The rematch is a result of a 30-24 victory by Arizona over Atlanta in an NFC Wild Card game last week. The Cardinals used their potent passing game, a rejuvenated running game and swarming defense that held Falcons running back Michael Turner, the NFL's second-leading rusher, to just 42 yards on 18 attempts to win the franchise's first playoff game since 1998. The Panthers enjoyed a first-round bye after finishing the regular season with the second-best record in the NFC.

The first postseason game at Bank of America Stadium since 2003 will feature two contrasting offenses with Arizona moving the ball through the air and Carolina staying on the ground. Despite the differing styles, they yielded similar results during the regular season with the Cardinals averaging 26.7 points per game and the Panthers scoring 25.9 points per game.

Arizona ranked second in the NFL in passing with an average of 292.1 yards per game during the regular season. Two-time MVP Kurt Warner, who led the NFC with a 96.9 passer rating, directs the Cardinals aerial attack. His primary targets - wide receivers Larry Fitzgerald (1,431), Anquan Boldin (1,038) and Steve Breaston (1,006) - became only the fifth teammate receiver threesome in league history with 1,000 yards apiece.

Carolina, on the other hand, finished third in the league in rushing offense with an average of 152.3 yards per game during the regular season. The Panthers rely on the tandem of running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. Williams set team single-season records with 1,515 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns, while Stewart established team rookie marks with 836 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns.

On The Air

Carolina will appear on the FOX Television Network with the broadcast team of play-by-play announcer Kenny Albert and game analyst Daryl Johnston with Tony Siragusa serving as the field reporter.

The game will also be broadcast nationally on the Westwood One Radio Network with the announcing team of play-by-play announcer Bill Rosinski, game analyst Dan Reeves and field reporter Kevin Kiley.

The Panthers can be heard throughout the Carolinas on flagship station WBT and on the Panthers Radio Network. Mick Mixon provides the play-by-play with game analysis from former 16-year NFL veteran safety Eugene Robinson. WBT Sports Director Jim Szoke serves as the color commentator and Sharon Thorsland contributes as the sideline reporter.
